So I've been trying to track down which big fan sites are still functional. Once this one is up and running with content I would like to invite their community to come check it out. As we all know FFOnline was Notorious when it was at its prime. I know many non members would show interest in the sites rebirth. These are the sites that I've found that don't lead to popup hell and advertisements to buy their domains:

Eyes on Final Fantasy - https://home.eyesonff.com/content/
FFRepublic - https://forums.ffrepublic.com/search.php?searchid=132818  (Found a funny thread about us here: https://forums.ffrepublic.com/costa-del-sol/8890-what-happened.html Which some I have to agree, the admins did get banhappy)
FF Worlds Apart - https://www.ffwa.org/

Anyone else know of any?

I know how they work

The Lifestream - http://thelifestream.net/

Its focus is on FFVII, but it still has a lot of content for the other games.  It appears to be going strong.

https://atma.lost-edens.com/ - European site that is basically a repository of official FF concept artwork. There's a ton of very rare art there too that I've never seen listed anywhere else. A nice touch is the listing of each game by 'world', complete with fanmade art of what that FF world would look like from space. I don't think there's a forum on it though.

Other than that, the only other FF site I know of that is still marginally active is FF Shrine, but sadly that site is on a long and slow descent to hell (none the less because of their shift towards illegal game and movie OST sharing and downloading on both the forum and their main site, hence why I haven't included a link to the site here). Also the admins basically came out and said that none of them really like FF anymore either.

Which is a shame as once upon a time that site was almost on par with FFO in terms of content quality. Now however....

To be fair, do any of us admins actually like Final Fantasy anymore? >_> I mean I still love the older games, but hearing about a new FF game coming out tends to fill me with dread rather than happy.

I like how, to this day, FF sites still use our color theme.

I don't. I'm in this for the duckets.

I made this for you!

I think http://www.cavesofnarshe.com has remained pretty active over the years.

Is ANYONE here enthusiastic about the franchise anymore?  I'm largely here because it's long since been my Home on the Internets, as crazy as that sounds.

I think this is the case for most of us here.  I mean, really, do  we really want to try our luck at another forum where people have already been there?

Or maybe one of those more popular ones where people are dicks for the sake of being dicks?  i wouldn't want to be there, for they are scary.

I like the games. They've been going downhill, but they're still fun, I think. I haven't played the online games, though.

That is a great website. They got a bunch of hi-res artworks I've been looking for for a very long time.

In general, it seems that specialized fan-sites are a thing of the past. Now, fandoms dwell on Tumblr and such.

You are not the only person who feels a dark presence when a new game is announced.

The members of those other sites might be as jaded as we are. The Lifestream focuses on FFVII, since their interest is plainly specialized on only one game, we could assume how far from it their evaluations drop off.

No answer, must be that deaf bitch.

I jumped off the boat at FFXII. I bought FFXIII and that pretty much sealed the deal in regards to FF being dead to me.

www.ffcompendium.com

It was always more of a wiki-esque informational site, but I'd spend hours just reading the various pages. I think the site might be dead though now (as in no more updates).

Oh wow, that is a great site.  I've never seen a lot of that artwork!

Some of the still-active FF sites I found while looking for interest in my FF500 project, and that I still visit every once in a while(they get less active the further down you go):

http://www.thefinalfantasy.com/
http://www.finalfantasyforums.net/forum.php
http://forums.ffshrine.org/
http://www.squareinsider.com/forums/
http://www.uffsite.net/forums/
http://www.rgonotsayz.com/forum/forum/

And of course, the FF Wiki and the gameFAQ's messageboards are still extremely active. Overclocked Remix has a decent gaming-related forum, too.
