Crono
Crono can cross dimensions too!

I'm curious to know how absolutely horrible the loading times are for CT. If it's anything more than a second or two I'd still hate to know that there are people who play it for the first time that way. *shivers*

Currently Playing: Dark Cloud 2: 3 hours.
Also Playing: CT, FF VI, Solatorobo, Secret of Mana, Halo 4.
Just Finished: Fable II: 7 hours.

The King's orders are absolute

I already downloaded them to my Wii off the Virtual Console a while ago. The PSone ports of these games always felt off to me when I played them.

Let's Play Chrono Trigger
Let's Play The Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past
Let's Play Final Fantasy VI

I have 2 versions of each game, so I don't know that I'll be getting these, but it's good to know they will be available.

Same.

If it's an FFVI that combines the best parts of Woolsey's and the GBA translations, then I'd consider it.

The CT load times aren't nearly as bad as the FF6 ones. I was actually able to put up with them being the impatient bastard I am.

That's weird because I felt the exact opposite when I bought both PSX compilations back in the day. I made it 4 hours before the music in VI made me stop and 10 minutes before the loading in CT made me stop.

Yesterday, we incorrectly reported Final Fantasy VI & Chrono Trigger were coming to PSN on Tuesday. They are not. We apologize for the error
Well, shit.

You shouldn't be playing those gimped versions of the games anyway. SNES, GBA, Gamecube with GB Player, NDS, Wii and even PC with emulator are all preferable means.

Well I played it on PSX back when the SNES version was going for 200 on ebay and I didn't wanna play on an emulator. I also wanted to see the anime cutscenes and I only had a 56K modem and youtube didn't exist. Lol.

FFVI glitches in the middle of battles and freezes for 5-10 seconds at a time. I made it to the WoR. CT versions never had anything like that.

Yes, what of it?

People complained about not having those two in the comments section of the blog for a long time. I'm glad they got them. I'll just stick to FFVI GBA, and buying CTDS when money is available.

Now BRING ON EHRGIEZ! It's the only psone game I didn't have the chance to get, and with it, it completes my collection. That doesn't mean I won't dabble in other offerings, but Ehrgiez was the one game I got really close to beating, but the rental copy was so old, the next time I got it, it didn't even make it through the intro cutscene.

The loading times actively hurt these games as they were NOT designed to have load times. None of the pan around goodness of PSX era RPGs that make the loading seem less horrible. These games were meant to run like lightning. The playstation versions of these games are the WORST versions of these. I agree with Joker find some other way to play these games. They're both on the Wii and playable on the Pre-DSi DSes. Try those versions instead. Or play it on the SNES. Both localizations are good.

I've seen Chrono Trigger in the PSN Store, but not FFVI yet.

Yeah, these are the PSX ports of these games: off sound, gliches, and awful load times galore. There are so many other ways to play these games that it's just not worth getting what are almost objectively the worst ports of them.

Having played FFVI and Chrono Trigger both on SNES and PSX I have two diffrent opinions on the port of the games:

FFVI - Probably the biggest port issues is the emulated sound quality of the music and the load times. However none of these seem to be problematic enough to deter the overall experience of the game. For FFVI ok quality went down but is it really that bad? I mean compared to the GBA version? As for the load times ... I don't know for some reason the load times never really bothered me.

Chrono Trigger - Now the PSX version stunk the joint the load times were longer and the transition between battles was just painful. Now I have not timed the loading between battles and compared them to FFVI but some are saying the FFVI version is longer. However, for me, its the opposite. But I guess it could also be psychological, since FFVI has a completley new battle screen in the game your mind is already wired to expect a transition so the loading time seems to be a minor annoyance. In Chrono Trigger the battles, and part of the appeal of the game, is that the battle transitions are seamless its like "encounter an enemy ... BAM FIGHT!!!" you have that mindset in Chrono Trigger so even a 3 second wait kills the flow of the game.

Plus Chrono Trigger from PSX's FMV anime opening didn't work for me. I though the charm of seeing gameplay scenes in the intro and song just worked so much better.
