According to Nikkei Japan, he was 85.
Google Translate:
The 19th, Nintendo has announced Yamauchi 溥氏 of former president has died in the morning at the same day by adviser. Was 85 years old.
BBC also just released a report about it.
Rest in peace, legend of the industry. Your contribution to this hobby we all love will never be forgotten. o7

I though he had already passed years ago, but evidently not.
Obviously a very successful man. His monopolistic practices in the 1980s that later become illegal are a big part of his legacy too though.

Pirate.
He was an awesome man who brought us some awesome things, amongst treating 3rd party devs like trash and some serious gaffs. But what leader is perfect? I'd take reincarnated for round 2. When he started with Nintendo they were still making playing cards.

Founded 1889. It was a company that sold card games. Sega has been around a long time as well.
