All I care about is how this could affect another Tomb Raider. I'd assume Crystal Dynamics is still the developer and Squeenix would the publisher?

I also hope Theif does really well now. Maybe if it sells the COD numbers Square-Enix wants maybe they can backtrack on this direction a bit.

I am thinking Tomb Raider might be safe but I heard some Square Enix guy saying he wants single player games to have an online component or purchasable upgrades to enhance the experience. Now I am not sure if he was talking about Tomb Raider but we will have to see.

Well Tomb Raider has multiplayer now, though I haven't touched it.

Tomb Raider 2013's multiplayer is the throwaway garbage that's only there due to corporate mandate you'd expect it to be.

Neither have I but it's a good game though.

In fairness the Tomb Raider next gen port is looking to be very impressive

Very impressive, but not "buy a new copy of the game" impressive. Then again, I don't have a next gen system.

PC version is still the best looking if you have the hardware to take advantage of it.

Actually they've added quite a bit. The PC version is essentially just a last gen port with fancy lighting and physx on laura's hair. They've totally retextured many things, added more things in the environment and now physx will be on her climbing axe on her belt!

But seriously, they changed how she looked, go find it.

Better color, more detailed face, hair in particular looks a lot better. Though with the hair it's something that you need to see in motion.

The PS4 version probably doesn't have the environmental blending completely done and coded yet, either. It'll look a lot better once that's done.

I guess I'll have to take it on good faith it's technically better.  Just doesn't look it which, when we're talking about graphics, I kind of figured would be the ultimate point.

I'm actually impressed by it, it'll look better than the PC version.

I'm hoping they'll release a low budget version on Steam like they did for Deus Ex HR.

Comes and goes like the wind...

Tomb Raider will be my first test to see if I can actually avoid wasting money on every big new release that comes out over the course of the year.
