Apparently the digital download of Mass Effect 2 is $5 on Amazon as well today.

The Steam Winter Sale has officially started, complete with achievement questing like the Summer Camp sale (with the possibility of getting games as prizes) and a contest that could reward you with every game on Steam. Not just Valve's games, all of them.

Today's daily deals include a ton of stuff (much of which is somewhat underwhelming), but most notably Orcs Must Die and Portal 2. Some of the packs are pretty incredible too.

For the Steam winter sales, you get a free gift just for going to your gift page. I got a 33% off any valve game voucher. Now on the list of eligible games is Portal 2, which is already on sale for $7.49. So maybe, if you get the 33% off thing i got, plus the already cheap Portal 2, you can get it for whatever 33% off $7.49 is!

The most important Steam sale tip: Don't purchase a game unless it is a daily deal! No matter how low it is, there is a strong chance it will go lower. On the final day, if it hasn't been a daily, get everything you were waiting on.

Most of the coupons aren't good until the sale ends, which makes them pretty worthless. There are rarer golden coupons that can be used any time, but there don't seem to be many of those going out.
