When I saw Spirit of the Night I thought I wasn't even going to have to listen to more than half a second of the other song; it was going to win. Then I clicked the random game's (Front Mission rip off?) link and saw Mitsuda. Then I fell in love in one listen. I do love the melody of SotN but overall I think Reason is a much better song.

Confrontation kind of sounds like it belongs in one of Tales games "shit's going down" scenes. It wins because the KH track just feels too funky with the piano rythmm.

Mitsuda!

Currently Playing: Dark Cloud 2: 3 hours.
Also Playing: CT, FF VI, Solatorobo, Secret of Mana, Halo 4.
Just Finished: Fable II: 7 hours.

I've kinda gotten away from this thread, but I gotta jump back in for Vector to the Heavens. Great song.

And surprisingly, I like that Reason song from Armodyne more than Spirit of the Night. Very surprising, since it's a song I've never heard from a game I've never heard of up against classic Mana.

Also, this is a much better quality link for Vector to the Heavens, taken from the soundtrack. That one sounds really bad, honestly, and sounds like a poor-quality recording straight from the game.

And just because I love Vector to the Heavens, and so should you, here's two more versions of it.

Piano

Guitar

Path 1: Out of Phase.

Path 2: Transcending Love. Reincarnation is lovely, but Transcending Love is one of my all-time favorite opening themes.

Out of phase has better drums but Destined One has better everything else. Going with DO; it kind of reminds me of a jam song a buddy and I put together years ago.

Oh man, Transcending Love. I didn't know it by title but I just knew it was the opening theme. Suikoden III and I have a history together. It was my first non-stock RPG (strictly FF, Chrono, and Mario before that) and when I watched the opening the first time I went "what is this". I wasn't in love, but I was curious. Little did I know that opening would come to represent my love of the Suiko-series and outsider RPG's in general. Reincarnation is my least favorite of 7th Seal so far (and by FAR) so there isn't a chance. Remove the vocal melodies and it would put up a better fight.

Path 1: Out of Phase. I do like TDO, but OoP gets the vote.

Path 2: Transcending Love. Love the theme and the SuikoIII opening.

So Sigh Ety

I've been busy all week, so it's time to finally catch up!

First

1) Both great themes But I'll give this one to I Closed my eyes. Just so peaceful, I didn't mind getting game over ;)

2) Where Angels Fear to tread is an excellent, and haunting tune, but the door is MASTERPIECE status. Can't wait to get that entire album in my hands.

Second

1) Spirit of the Night. Almost makes me cry, largely in part due to nostalgia. Sounds so similar to that one Chrono Trigger OST track too...can't quite put my finger on it. Reason is pretty good but..I can't overcome my nostalgia with this one. GEEZ Mitsuda is so freakin good, I didn't realize he had so many other soundtracks out there, need to explore way more of these.

2) Ah the Seventh Seal is finally dethroned in my book..I'm gonna go with Vector to the heavens, which is fantastic. Shimomura really knows how to use those piano effects so freaking well.

Third

1) Close one as that's another great new Mitsuda track I haven't heard before, but I really love Out of Phase, one of my favorite tracks out of that PE album. This didn't go into my vote, but also brownie points for that hot aya artwork ;)

2) Whoa diggity, i'm going with Sailing to the World! Fantastic stuff!!!! Exceeding love, the opening theme of Suikoden 3, aint bad but just isn't up to par.

1) Parting Forever. The instrumental-only version went well with some of Kaim's Memories.

2) Indescribable Grief

Path 1: Parting Forever.

Path 2: Indescribable Grief. I unfortunately don't think much of Suikoden III's OST beyond Transcending Love, much as I adore that game, and IG is one of my favorite dungeon themes from VP2, so this is an easy choice.

Path 1: Someone Calls Me...Someone Looks for Me. It does suffer a bit with the synth vocals, though.

Path 2: A lot of the SuikoIII music has a strange feel to it, but I love The Glittering Blade. IG is great, as well, and gives me a yearning to finally put VP2 in my PS2.
