Anyone have any experience with this kind of software? Does it work well for dictating documents? I am highly considering getting this to make my life easier for dissertating and transcribing. I would probably specifically have to go with Dragon Dictate for macs (I have a MacBook Pro, from 2009, running Lion)

Dragon Naturally Speaking seems to be the go-to software. However, the hanfdul of times I've ever tried it out, it was horrible, buggy shit - but I never finished training it, and this was years and years ago.
True, decent speech-to-text software with few flaws and lightweight training is one of those applications in need of true AI.

Friend of mine is mostly blind and uses Dragon Naturally speaking. It seems to be the only real option out there. But it's far from perfect. If you take the time to train it and get used to how it operates, it could be worth it. But it's a complicatec computing task that I avoid even bothering with. I figure the day it actually works well, the media will be reporting on it and the last 20 years of failure at trying.
