So I just picked me up one of the discounted HP touchpads and Have been enjoying it quite a bit. I dont have 3G internal, but I use my work phone as a wifi hotspot to let me surf everywhere. Ive had alot of fun with it so far.

Anyone have a tablet?

I've got an iPad. Even toyugh I am an Apple fan boy I didn't see the point in the iPad thinking it was just a larger iPhone without the phone. But I had a go on someones and thought it was fantastic. My wife said it was a waste of time and money but now I can't get it off her. I've been thinking about getting FF IV for it.

I'd think about buying one as soon as I found one that A) I could afford, and B) was Windows7/Windows Mobile based. All of those seem to have died a-borning, though.

I really want a Toshiba Thrive. I know it's heavier than most other tablets, but it has full-size HDMI, full USB and the carbon fiber-ish back which means more grip, less slip.

The iPad is slick, but I've been thinking about picking up a Nook Color and replacing the OS with Android. A friend of mine did it and the thing works great.

So when you do OS brainsurgery on the Nook, does it still work as an ebook reader? Because this seems like an awesome idea.

Ya, it becomes an Android Tablet with the Nook app. I don't think it really negates any Nook features on the WiFi version. I can't remember if the controls are exactly the same in pre-surgery and post surgery, but they are tablet controls, so I think it's exactly the same.

My dad's been interested in picking up a Nook Color because he wants an e-Reader that's a little bit more than JUST an e-Reader. I doubt he'd let me convert it to full Android tablet functionality, though.

I like the idea of a tablet, but I don't even have a smartphone yet. I messed around on an iPad and honestly don't really see the point of owning one beyond a "this is pretty cool!/OMG STAR TREK" factor. I guess I just like tactile feedback too much, though I saw a USB keyboard for one of the Android tablets Verizon was pushing (I want to say the Xoom) and thought that was pretty cool.

Anyone watched the Video for the new Sony Tab? That thing is pretty freaking sweet if I must say so myself.

Rumous of a new Nook Color this month...

The Sony tablet looks awesome. My hope is that the tablet war produce some awesome fodder for my ownership enjoyment.

I bought (and rooted) a Nook Color this weekend. It's actually quite nice -- perfect size, snappy, and (for the most part) bug-free.

The Market has some issues -- like not being able to install some apps -- but there are workarounds that I haven't gotten around to screwing with just yet.
