I know how they work

I can't find a poll option, so here are the teams:

New York Yankees

Detroit Tigers

Texas Rangers

Tampa Bay Rays

Philadelphia Phillies

St. Louis Cardinals

Milwaukee Brewers

Arizona Diamondbacks

As always I'm rooting for my Phils, but since my nerves have been shot for years, I'm already sweating in just the first game of the NLDS.

Anyone but the Phillies. I'd even pull for the Yankees over them, and that's really saying something.

If I had to pick a team to actively pull for out of the group, I'd say the Tigers.

I called the Phillies over the Tigers before the post-season started and I'll stick with that even though Detroit looked horrid last night. If Doc wasn't on the Phillies I'd probably be in the "anyone but them!" camp, but Halladay deserves a ring and like last year pretty much has all Jays fans behind him.

As a Cardinal fan, I am pulling for them, totally.

But I have mixed feelings about the Braves' collapse and the Cardinals' run to the wild card. The Cardinals have a lot of questions that needed to be answered as far as young guys coming up in the farm leagues needing playing time and general management issues that needed sorting out. But with the sudden spurt and the wild card win, a lot of those questions got put off or buried (no one's going to question La Russa's shitty managing all season after that September success).

Do the Cardinals really have a shot at the World Series or even the NL Pennant? Probably not. It would have been better if questions like Pujols and his contract negotiations had been settled earlier rather than later.

My prediction: Yankees and Phillies, Yankees win in five.

I think right now the biggest detriment to the Cards' success is Tony LaRussa. Like the Eagles and Andy Reid, they succeed in spite of him.
