Pet Sematary is creepy as hell, one of my favorite King books.

I'm taking a break from A dance with Dragons, as it is boring as hell, and started Jonathan Strange and Mr Norell. Is it really as good as people say it is ?

Almost done with ADwD.  I haven't found it boring but things are definitely picking up towards the end.

Yeah I'm just like 300 pages in, but I heard things definitely pick up once the story catches up with where FFC left off (although I got one of the big reveals spoiled for me :/)

Kal, you might be able to help me on this one. I've got a pretty good grasp on reading French and I was looking for a book to read that was easy but still an adult novel (and not La Petite Fadette dear GOD). Any suggestions?

Well to be honest, I mostly read in english, and the only modern things I read in french are translations of stuff like Murakami or other things I can't read in their original language.
I know close to nothing about modern, post-modern or contemporary french literature. I can recommend you some good classics though, depending on what genre you're looking for. I personally love tragic plays from the 17th century (Racine, Corneille...)  but the french in those would be the equivalent of a slightly easier shakespeare, so I don't know and I find myself reading most of them with a dictionary next to me, so I dunno.

Classics like "Notre Dame de Paris", "Les Trois Mousquetaires" or "Le Roman de la Momie" may seem hackneyed, but they aren't classics for no reason. Plus it's always great to read a story you think you know (through pop culture or Disney) and discover that it's absolutely nothing like you expected (I got that while reading Frankenstein, which was exacly the opposite of what I expected it to be, thanks to the preconceived ideas about the book I got from the films or cartoons).

That being said, one of my all time favorite books is "La Nuit des Temps" by Barjavel. It's a great science-fiction/ love story but I cant' really tell more about it without spoiling it. It's short and easy to read.
Also, anything my JMG Le Clezio is a safe bet, he's one of the most successful 'high-brow' authors now and has an amazing ability to write with colors and sounds and smell, almost like an impressionist. I would compare him to Joseph Kessel or Roald Dahl (in his adult fiction) in his themes but much more oniric and poetic in his writing.

So, is there any Lovecraft buff around here?, I read a few stories and I seem to be permanently hooked, I'm interested in his Cthulhu mythos, but I'm royally confused as to what the mythos comprises, exactly: different authors, different authors that wrote for the same magazines at the same time as Lovecraft, only Lovecraft, etc.? and there are so many different compilations and lists out there, can any of you point me to a good list of Cthulhu stories? or at least clear my confusion a bit?.

I have a Lovecraft omnibus (part 1 of I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY) and I really enjoy him, but don't neglect his non-Cthulu stuff. I find it equally as valuable, and though it doesn't necessarily coincide with the mythos, it certainly adds somethig to his style.

Also, I'm reading Tess of the D'Urbervilles and I am finding it ridiculously depressing, as is Hardy's way.

The Cthulhu mythos isn't something to be overly concerned about.  Not even Lovecraft himself was very consistent with it, much less all the other authors.  When it comes to sorting it out, I just go with the Caitlin Kiernan method.  There's what Lovecraft wrote, and there's what everybody else wrote.

Oh, I plan to read everything he's got, I just thought focusing on the mythos was a good way to get some direction, but it has proven, as I said, difficult.
I find Lovecraft very exciting, when reading a certain part of The Case of Charles Dexter Ward, I grimaced and uttered "no way, NO WAY!" as I was reading certain part of The Dunwich Horror earlier today I exclaimed "ewewew!" and as I read the last lines I went "oh f*ck!"; I haven't had this much fun since...well probably since I bought those Uzumaki books, actually.

That Caithlin looks like an interesting girl, I must check her out.

^^I'm rather fond of this cycle of Lovecraft tales.

Recently finished Abarat:Absolute Midnight.  Another great entry in that series.  Starting my second run of The Dark Tower series.

^Deep Ones.

Just started The Waste Lands on my Dark Tower re-read.  I knew that verse during Uncharted 3 sounded familiar.
