How can I become a part of the community?

To join the Final Fantasy Online community, click "Log In or Sign Up" from the main menu, located on the top right hand corner. Enter your desired user name, a valid e-mail address, and a password. During the registration process, you can also adjust your time zone and select login preferences. Your account can be customized further with profile information, avatars, and other features once you're fully registered and your account is activated.

Once you've submitted your membership registration, you must check your e-mail for an activation link. This link will activate your account once clicked or viewed on a browser. When your account is activated, you will have full access to community features.

Registration and participation are absolutely free.

I haven't received my activation link. What gives?

If you haven't received an e-mail from Final Fantasy Online with your activation link, the e-mail may have been caught by spam protection or junk filters. Check your spam or junk folder for the e-mail. Final Fantasy Online will never send you unauthorized e-mails or spam. If you still have not received the e-mail, please contact us to send you another one.

What are achievements?

What type of posting material and language is acceptable?

You are welcome to post your thoughts, ideas, and opinions on almost any subject. Pornography is not acceptable here. Likewise, as a member of the Final Fantasy Online community, general disrespect, spamming, and trolling are not welcome behaviors.

Such behavior is subject to account termination. This includes:

  • advertising a Web site or spamming a product or service. You are more than welcome to advertise your site in your signature, but if you have nothing to contribute to the community other than your corner of the Internet, you're more than welcome to pay us for advertising it.
  • Pointless posts as a means to acquire community achievements.
  • Composing messages for the sole purpose of insulting another member or administrator. Arguments, disagreements, and varying points of view are understandable, but intentionally trying to offend another member is unacceptable.

Advertising or spamming members using the messaging system is also grounds for account termination.

Do I have Freedom of Speech rights here?

No. Freedom of Speech is a United States constitutional protection guaranteeing that the government will not oppress your political speech. We are not the government. If we oppress your ability to speak here, your Freedom of Speech rights are not being violated.

What forum software does Final Fantasy Online use?

Final Fantasy Online employs its own custom built forum software.

What is BBCode and how do I use it?

Final Fantasy Online uses a WYSIWYG editor for forum posting and messages. This editor automatically "codes" most of your post for you. However, certain BBCode tags are not parsed in the editor, such as embedding a video or quoting a post as a reply.

To use BBCode, simply encapsulate the text you wish to manipulate with one or several of the BBCode tags listed below. In order for BBCode tags to parse, you must close a tag you open. Improper BBCode usage, either through a lack of a closing tag or invalid characters, will simply cause your tags to not be parsed.

The guide below demonstrates uncommonly known BBCode tags.

BBCode
Description
Usage Example and Result
[youtube]
Embed a YouTube video into your post. Encapsulate only the video ID between the tags. The entire URL is not necessary, nor will the code function with it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sy-eRfupYbA

[youtube]sy-eRfupYbA[/youtube]

Result:

[audio]
Embed a MP3 audio file into your post. Encapsulate a full, working URL between the tags.

[audio]https://www.myurl.com/myaudiofile.mp3[/audio]

Result:

[spoiler]
Hide the encapsulated text inside a container that requires user interaction to view.
[spoiler]This is a spoiler![/spoiler]

Result:
Spoiler: Move your mouse over the container to reveal.
This is a spoiler!

If you still require assistance using BBCode, contact a Final Fantasy Online forum administrator.
