FF X Demo Walkthrough / FAQ By Lezard Valeth (lezard@ffonline.com) Version 1.00 (December 9, 2001) Note: This guide is to only be found at www.ffonline.com. If you find this guide elsewhere, please let me know where you found it. Version History: 1.00 - 12/9/01. Completed the initial guide. It's a bit quick and dirty, but hey that's what happens when you only have the demo for 2 days ^_^. There's still a handful of errors I think are present, namely incorrect Ability and Equipment names. Since there's a pattern to their naming. I haven't gotten all the items, but putting down my best guesses as to their names based on the pattern. Voice over listings I'm assuming are incomplete. I have no idea how many samples there are as there's so many variables for which they occur, and there's multiple ones for each condition. Most of the information is pretty accurate though. The next time I update should hopefully be the final one. Contents: (Part 1) Zanarkand Scenario Zanarkand Scenario Odds and Ends Q&A (Part 2) Besaid Island Scenario Besaid Island Scenario Odds and Ends Q&A (Part 3) Voice Over listings (Besaid Island Scenario) =============================================================================== Zanarkand Scenario: Items: Potion (Recover 200 HP when used) x10 Phoenix Down (Recover from KO with 1/2 HP when used) x3 Long Sword (No abilities) - Equipped on Tidus Buckler (No abilities) - Equipped on Tidus Katana (No abilities) - Equipped on Auron Bracer (No abilities) - Equipped on Auron After the FMV has finished, you'll have control of Tidus, just simply head towards the screen until he spots Auron. A bunch of scenes will occur and eventually you'll be in a battle. Battles in FFX are strictly turn based, so you have all the time you need to familiarize yourself with the controls. Check the Item command and you'll see you're given 10 Potions and 3 Phoenix Downs to start with, bring yourself back to the command window by pressing the Circle Button. Pressing Right on the directional pad gives you access to a new set of commands. These enable you to change your weapons (Weapon command) and armors (Armor command) at the cost of half a turn. There's also an Escape command which enables that character to run away from the battle. The Escape command will be unselectable in the Zanarkand scenario. You can check to see what equipment for that character is available to be equipped and what abilities it possess. For now you'll notice that when you select the Weapon command Tidus is equipped with a Long Sword, and it has no abilities. A weapon or armor that is currently equipped is denoted by a small pink triangle in the upper left corner of the Item Icon. Abilities of weapons and armors are located in the grey box to the right of the equipment list. Since the Long Sword has no abilities it just has a "-" in the dialog box. You are also able to toggle the Help Message at the top of the screen on and off by pressing the select button. To Defend in FFX simply return yourself to the Sub Commands window by pressing the Left Directional button and press the Triangle Button. But for now just have Tidus attack the lone Sinscale in front. After that Sinscale is defeated you'll run into two more of them. When Auron's turn comes up, he'll have and additional command called Skill. Select it and a menu will pop up listing his Power Break skill. It costs 8 MP to use, so try it out here to see it's effects. Kill Both of those Sinscales and you'll get into another battle this time being surrounded by Sinscales. There's 3 in front, and 2 behind. There's no need to worry, all you need to do is kill the 3 in front which shouldn't be any problem. After those waves of Sinscales are defeated, you'll run into a mid-boss fight against Sinspawn: Ammes, and 5 Sinscales. The Sinspawn will get the jump on the battle by casting Demi before you get to attack. After that the Overdrive mini-tutorial begins. Auron's Overdrive gauge is filled for this battle. All your commands will be greyed out and unuseable, so press Right on the directional pad when you see the Overdrive indicator flashing, and Auron's Overdrive command Bushido is made available. Select Bushido and a menu will pop up with Auron's Overdrive attack called Dragon Fang. Select Dragon Fang, and it'll target all enemies onscreen. Execute the attack now, and you're given a countdown with a series of button markers onscreen. Simply input the button sequence before the time runs out. It's not mandatory to input the button sequence correctly, as it'll wipe out all the Sinscales anyways. If you do input the button sequence correctly it'll cause larger explosions which will double the damage the attack does. Shortly after Tidus's Overdrive gauge will be filled. Do the same thing you did with Auron; Press Right on the D-Pad, select Tidus's Swordplay command, then select his Overdrive attack called Spiral Cut. Execute the attack and you'll be given a countdown screen with a cursor moving rapidly back and forth across the gauge. Try to press the Cross button right as the cursor moves across the central highlighted portion of the gauge. If done successfuly Tidus will do double the damage with his Overdrive attack. After that just keep hacking away or experimenting with the different commands. Sinspawn: Ammes will always use Demi against you, and Demi can never kill you, so there's no pressure on you to win this fight. Just keep hacking away until the Sinspawn is deafeated. After the Sinspawn has been defeated, follow Auron past the dead Sinspawn. Take note of the glowing object to your right. It's a Save Sphere. But since you can't Save in the demo it's other ability can be used, namely to restore all your HP and MP. You definitly must restore your HP and MP here. Continue onwards and eventually you'll be attacked by a swarm of Sinscales from both sides. All tolled, there's 7 of them. 4 in front, 3 behind you. You'll soon find out that these Sinscales aren't like the ones from before. They'll continuously attack you, and it won't matter which Sinscale you kill there'll always be one to replace a dead Sinscale. After a few rounds of combat, Auron comes up with a plan. Your objective now is to knock down that tanker off to your right that's hanging off the ledge. After a few good whacks, about 3-5 hits from Tidus and Auron, the Tanker will fall and cause a large explosion getting rid of all the Sinscales. After that a scene, and FMV will play and the Zanarkand scenario of the Demo is over. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Zanarkand Scenario Odds and Ends Q&A: Q1: What if you decided to try and kill those Sinscales behind you? A1: Well when you kill one of them, another will immediately run in to take it's place. Basically no matter how many times you kill the Sinscales behind you there's an infinite number that are waiting in line. Q2: What If you didn't do anything and kept defending at the beginning of the Zanarkand scenario battles? A2: A Sinscale will just attack once and then proceed to wait for you to hit it. So basically both the characters and the Sinscale will be staring at eachother waiting to be attacked by the other ^_^; Q3: What if during fight when trying to knock down the Tanker, I just sit there and let the Sinscales kill me? A3: Well you'll be brought to the Thanks for Playing screen that you see at the end of the demo. Q4: is it possible to kill all those Sinscales before knocking down the tanker? A4: No it's not..... HOWEVER it is possible to permently kill a handful of them. What you need to do is sit around and let the Sinscales attack Auron enough so that his Overdrive gauge fills up. This takes quite a while and will probably use up all of your Potions and Phoenix Downs in the process (hey those items they gave you actually serve a purpose^_^) Once Auron's Overdrive gauge is charged select his Dragon Fang attack. You'll soon notice he can only use the attack on three groups; The Tanker, The 4 Sinscales in front, or the 3 Sinscales in the back. Select the group of Sinscales in the front. You'll kill all 4 Sinscales but only ONE Sinscale will replace the 4. And no matter how many more Sinscales you kill those three other Sinscales in the Front Row will never come back. Q5: What if I wait and charge Auron's Overdrive gauge again during the battle with the Sinspawn, rather than in the Sinscale battle afterwards? A5: It's quite possible, but again it'll likely use up all your Potions in the process. It's a little harder to do as with each casting of Demi, the Overdrive gauge fills up slower and slower, since the amount of damage you sustain determines how much the Overdrive Gauge fills up. So for maximum effectiveness, make sure Auron's HP doesn't fall below 515, and use the Potions to heal him. Make sure not to waste any of the Potion's effectiveness. That is, if Auron has suffered less than about 175-200 damage, don't heal him. Use the Potions for maximum effectiveness. Q6: Are there any little secrets in the Zanarkand Scenario? A6: Not to my knowledge, though if you call being able to permenantly kill a few Sinspawns during the Tanker Battle then that would be considered a secret of sorts. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Besaid Island Scenario Note: IMO this is the meat of the demo as there's so much to do here, and there's a lot of neat stuff to discover. Items: Potion (Recover 200 HP when used) x10 Phoenix Down (Recover from KO with 1/2 HP when used) x3 Antidote (Cures Poison when used) x2 Remedy (Cures various status abnormalities when used) x1 Ether (Recover 100 MP when used) x1 Moon Crest (No uses in the Demo) x1 Long Sword (No Abilities) - Equipped on Tidus Buckler (No Abilities) - Equipped on Tidus Staff (No Abilities) - Equipped on Yuna Ring (No Abilities) - Equipped on Yuna Seeker's Ring (HP +10%) - Armor for Yuna Hunter's Spear (Sensor / Piercing) - Equipped on Kimahri Official Ball (No Abilities) - Equipped on Wakka Moogle (No Abilities) - Equipped on Lulu Bracelet (No Abilities) - Equipped on Lulu When you start this scenario, you're immediatly given control of Tidus. You're unable to walk back towards the screen, so you can only walk forwards. I should mention now, that there is no menu access at all in the demo. (Pity really, I really wanted to test out the Sphere Grid =D) Anyways just head forwards and you'll be thrust into a battle with Kimahri. This battle really showcases the seamless change of camera angles throughout the battle. This battle however can be potentially deadly if you're careless. But it's also a great chance to highlight an interesting feature of the battle system. When Tidus's HP drops into the yellow range, take very careful note of the attack turn listings. It'll show Kimarhi is going to have 2 turns in a row shortly, which will be just what he needs to kill you. You can circumvent this from happening by moving the cursor over the Item command, there you'll see attack turn listings will be altered with Tidus getting another chance to attack earlier before Kimahri's second consecutive turn. Use this to your advantage by consuming a Potion now. Keep hacking away and the battle will eventually end shortly. After some brief conversation you'll receive your spoils. Spoils: 3 AP; (4 if Overkilled); 100 Gil Items Dropped: Ability Sphere x2, (x4 if Overkilled) Equipment Dropped (one of the following): 100% drop rate Weapons: Hunter's Sword ( Sensor ) - Weapon for Tidus Baroque Sword ( - / - ) - Weapon for Tidus Hunter's Sword ( Sensor / - ) - Weapon for Tidus Rod of Wisdom ( Sensor ) - Weapon for Yuna Grow Rod ( - / - ) - Weapon for Yuna Rod of Wisdom ( Sensor / - ) - Weapon for Yuna Scout Ball ( Sensor ) - Weapon for Wakka Switch Hitter ( - / - ) - Weapon for Wakka Scout Ball ( Sensor / - ) - Weapon for Wakka Scout Cactaur ( Sensor ) - Weapon for Lulu Variable Moogle ( - / - ) - Weapon for Lulu Scout Cactaur ( Sensor / - ) - Weapon for Lulu Armors: Metal Shield ( Defense +5% ) - Armor for Tidus Metal Shield (Defense +5% / - ) - Armor for Tidus Metal Ring ( Defense +5% ) - Armor for Yuna Metal Ring (Defense +5% / - ) - Armor for Yuna Metal Armguard ( Defense +5% ) - Armor for Wakka Metal Armguard (Defense +5% / - ) - Armor for Wakka Metal Bangle ( Defense +5% ) - Armor for Lulu Metal Bangle (Defense +5% / - ) - Armor for Lulu Continue along the path till you enter the next. Keep walking forward and you'll run into another battle, this time against a Garuda. This is a fixed tutorial battle, and teaches you how to use Yuna's summons. All of Tidus's commands are greyed out, so tap the L1 button to bring up the Party Switch menu, and switch in Yuna. Once Yuna is called upon, all of her commands are greyed out except for Summon, so choose that. You'll notice she only hase one Aeon available to summon. That Aeon being Valefor. So just confirm the summon to bring Valefor into the battle. Valefor has 6 commands altogether. The first 3 being Attack, Sonic Wings, and Blk Magic. Sonic Wings is a physical attack which delays an opponents turn from happening by a small amount, usually it's enough to get in an extra attack or two after it's done. Valefor has 4 Blk Magic abilities to choose from. Fire, Thunder, Water, and Blizzard. The second set of commands are available by pressing Right on the D-Pad. These commands are Shield; which increases the Aeon's by 50% but halts the Overdrive Gauge from being filled up, Boost; which lowers the Aeon's defense by half but increases the rate at which the Overdrive Gauge is filled by 100%, and Dismiss; which sends the Aeon away and brings back your party members into the fight. You can't dismiss Valefor for this fight, so just try out all it's abilities. Valefor inherently comes with the Sensor ability so you can see the Garuda's HP and battle strategies. The Garuda has 1400 HP so just pound away on it. It's likely that Valefor's Overdrive Gauge will be filled near the end of the fight, so hold off on using it's overdrive for now, just use Valefor's normal attacks to kill the Garuda and you'll receive the following: 8 AP; 30 Gil Items Dropped: Power Sphere x1 Equipment Dropped (one of the following): 100% drop rate Weapons: Twilight Sun ( Darktouch ) - Tidus Fighter's Sword ( Strength +3% ) - Tidus Twilight Sun ( Darktouch / - ) - Tidus Fighter's Sword (Strength +3% / - ) - Tidus Twilight Sun ( Darktouch / Strength +3% ) - Tidus Blinding Rod ( Darktouch ) - Yuna Enchant Rod ( Magic +3% ) - Yuna Blinding Rod ( Darktouch / - ) - Yuna Enchant Rod ( Magic +3% / - ) - Yuna Blinding Rod ( Darktouch / Magic +3% ) - Yuna Dusk Lance ( Darktouch ) - Kimahri Harpoon ( Piercing ) - Kimahri Heavy Spear ( Strength +3% ) - Kimahri Dusk Lance ( Darktouch / - ) - Kimahri Harpoon ( Piercing / - ) - Kimahri Heavy Spear (Strength +3% / - ) - Kimahri Dusk Lance ( Darktouch / Piercing ) - Kimahri Dusk Lance ( Darktouch / Strength +3% ) - Kimahri Heavy Spear (Strength +3% / Piercing ) - Kimahri Shades ( Darktouch ) - Wakka Power Ball ( Strength +3% ) - Wakka Shades ( Darktouch / - ) - Wakka Power Ball (Strength +3% / - ) - Wakka Shades ( Darktouch / Strength +3% ) - Wakka Blinding Cait Sith ( Darktouch ) - Lulu Magic Moogle ( Magic +3% ) - Lulu Blinding Cait Sith ( Darktouch / - ) - Lulu Magic Moogle ( Magic +3% / - ) - Lulu Blinding Cait Sith ( Darktouch / Magic +3% ) - Lulu Armors: Bright Shield ( Dark Ward ) - Tidus Bright Shield ( Dark Ward / - ) - Tidus Bright Ring ( Dark Ward ) - Yuna Bright Ring ( Dark Ward / - ) - Yuna Bright Armlet ( Dark Ward ) - Kimahri Bright Armlet ( Dark Ward / - ) - Kimahri Bright Armguard ( Dark Ward ) - Wakka Bright Armguard ( Dark Ward / - ) - Wakka Bright Bangle ( Dark Ward ) - Lulu Bright Bangle ( Dark Ward / - ) - Lulu After the battle keep walking forward, this time you'll encounter another Garuda. Again it's a one time only fixed encounter, this time it teaches you about Wakka's skills. Wakka's turn will come up first, and all his commands will be greyed out except for Skill. Select that command and a menu will pop listing Wakka's Dark Attack. It costs 5 MP to use and will inflict Darkness on the Garuda for 3 turns. After that you'll notice that most of the Garuda's attacks will miss your characters, and you'll have free control over your characters again. Try to execute at least one action other than escaping or changing a character's equipement, for all 4 available characters. When you've done that have Yuna Summon Valefor again. If you saved up Valefor's Overdrive, you can choose to use it here. It's the same process when selecting an Overdrive for a character except there's no sub-menu for it. Just press Right on the D-Pad when Valefor's commands show up, select the ability Energy Ray and execute the attack. It should be enough to kill the Garuda if you attacked it previously with your other characters. You'll receive the following: 8 AP; 30 Gil Items Dropped: Power Sphere x1 Equipment Dropped (one of the following): 100% drop rate Weapons: Twilight Sun ( Darktouch ) - Tidus Fighter's Sword ( Strength +3% ) - Tidus Twilight Sun ( Darktouch / - ) - Tidus Fighter's Sword (Strength +3% / - ) - Tidus Twilight Sun ( Darktouch / Strength +3% ) - Tidus Blinding Rod ( Darktouch ) - Yuna Enchant Rod ( Magic +3% ) - Yuna Blinding Rod ( Darktouch / - ) - Yuna Enchant Rod ( Magic +3% / - ) - Yuna Blinding Rod ( Darktouch / Magic +3% ) - Yuna Dusk Lance ( Darktouch ) - Kimahri Harpoon ( Piercing ) - Kimahri Heavy Spear ( Strength +3% ) - Kimahri Dusk Lance ( Darktouch / - ) - Kimahri Harpoon ( Piercing / - ) - Kimahri Heavy Spear (Strength +3% / - ) - Kimahri Dusk Lance ( Darktouch / Piercing ) - Kimahri Dusk Lance ( Darktouch / Strength +3% ) - Kimahri Heavy Spear (Strength +3% / Piercing ) - Kimahri Shades ( Darktouch ) - Wakka Power Ball ( Strength +3% ) - Wakka Shades ( Darktouch / - ) - Wakka Power Ball (Strength +3% / - ) - Wakka Shades ( Darktouch / Strength +3% ) - Wakka Blinding Cait Sith ( Darktouch ) - Lulu Magic Moogle ( Magic +3% ) - Lulu Blinding Cait Sith ( Darktouch / - ) - Lulu Magic Moogle ( Magic +3% / - ) - Lulu Blinding Cait Sith ( Darktouch / Magic +3% ) - Lulu Armors: Bright Shield ( Dark Ward ) - Tidus Bright Shield ( Dark Ward / - ) - Tidus Bright Ring ( Dark Ward ) - Yuna Bright Ring ( Dark Ward / - ) - Yuna Bright Armlet ( Dark Ward ) - Kimahri Bright Armlet ( Dark Ward / - ) - Kimahri Bright Armguard ( Dark Ward ) - Wakka Bright Armguard ( Dark Ward / - ) - Wakka Bright Bangle ( Dark Ward ) - Lulu Bright Bangle ( Dark Ward / - ) - Lulu You'll notice on the AP screen that all your characters will receive the same amount of AP that Yuna got previously. This was because they each participated in the battle. As long as they make an action other than running or changing equipment, they'll get the AP. So it's important to use every character in the game to get AP for everyone. Continue walking along the path and you'll run into another fixed encounter with 3 normal monsters. Although this is not specifically a tutorial battle like the last two, there is something new to learn here. Start by pressing the L1 button to bring up the Character Switch menu. You'll notice that Kimahri is no available so switch him in. Kimahri has the Sensor ability equipped on his weapon, enabling you see each of these enemies stats. Start by selecting Attack, and target the Water Flan to bring up it's stats. You should be seeing the following: Info: HP: 320 / 320 (x 1.5) - ( )-(Yellow)-( )-( ) ( + ) - ( )-( )-(Blue)-( ) Basically to decipher what it's saying is this: x 1.5 means a weakness where certain elements will inflict 50% more damage than normal. + means certain elements will be absorbed and end up healing the target. The different colors denote the elements. Of which there are 4 of them. Red will be Fire, Yellow is Lightning, Blue is Water, and White is Ice. There are also 1 / 2 and Null conditions as well. 1 / 2 means certain elements will only do 50% less damage. Null means certain elements will do no damage at all to the target. Now head back to Kimahri's commands and you'll notice he's ready to use his Overdrive attack, so press Right on the D-Pad to access his command Ronso Rage, and select Jump from the list. Target the Dingo which is the small Dog in the middle so that he Overkills it. Next is Yuna's turn, switch in Tidus for her and have him attack the Water Flan. He'll get a brief lesson from Lulu on how to kill it. Of which Lulu's turn comes next, have her cast Fire on the Condor which it is weak to to Overkill it. Kimahri's turn will come again, look over his ability list and you'll see he has 3 commands. Special, Blk Magic, and Wht Magic. His Special contains his Lancet ability which is used to syphon HP and MP from a monster (in the full game it's also used to syphon an ability to add to his Ronso Rage list). Under Blk Magic contains Fire, Thunder, Water, and Blizzard, and under Wht Magic contains Cure (Yuna has Cure and Esuna under her list). Try out his Lancet ability on the Water Flan to see what it does for yourself. Switch in Wakka now and have him do anything so that he'll gain AP after the battle. When Lulu's turn comes up, have cast Thunder on the Water Flan to kill the Water Flan and end the battle. You'll receive the following: 10 AP; 46 Gil Items Dropped: Power Sphere x2 (from Dingo) Speed Sphere x2 (from Condor) Mana Sphere x2 (from Water Flan) Equipment Dropped (one of the following): 12% drop rate Weapons: Check the monster listings down below Armors: Check the monster listings down below Keep walking along the path to the exit, and you'll come to another area. Walk further along to the exit which is marked by a Red Arrow on the minimap, and you'll be in another area. From here have Tidus follow the other characters onto the boat, a short sequence will occur and this scenario is done. "Um wait a sec I thought you said this was the meat of the demo. Where is it all?" Hehe, well there's a whole lotta side stuff in the Besaid Scenario to do, so I'll list it in the order which they occur. 1: Right at the start look to your left. You see that little blue disc on the column of rusted metal right in front of Tidus? Walk over to it and press the Cross button. You'l find an a Phrase written in Al Bhed. It reads: "Kilika" yht "Bikanel" zueh yc uha. And no I have no clue what it means. 2: You can Overkill Kimahri when you're fighting him, but it's a little tricky. What you do is hit him about 4 or 5 times, 5 just to be sure, then sit there changing your weapon and armor pointlessly, and recovering your HP when necessary. Keep doing this till your Overdrive gauge is maxed out. Execute Tidus's Spiral Cut, and make sure you perform it successfully. If you're lucky, it'll do over 300 damage to Kimahri and register an Overkill. ^_^ 3: When you're on the final area of the scenario, go out into the sea and swim around a bit, head west towards a little nook in the map near where you came from, there's a chest there containing an item called the Moon Crest. I have no idea what it does since it's a miscellaneous item and doesn't show up on any of the battle menus. 4: Before going to the docks, head north from them on the beach, keep going and eventually the camera will spin around to focus on a treasure chest. Open the chest for 2 Antidotes. It's not like you'll need them since no enemy uses poison attacks here ^_^ 5: There's a whole bunch of stuff to be had from the villagers on the docks. Talk to the first villager to Tidus's left twice to get 3 Phoenix Downs, talk to the one across on Tidus's right to get an Ether. The Old Man in the middle will give you a Seeker's Ring if you talk to him. Then talk to the young man standing next to the gangplank twice and he'll give you 400 Gil. And finally talk to the kid closest to the previous guy twice to receive a Remedy. Phew that's a lot of stuff ^_^ 6: And the biggest thing of all. Go back to the area where those tutorial battles took place. If you wander around there you'll find random encounters. This is the ONLY place to find random encounters in the demo. Why is this big? For 2 reasons really. One is your characters will be taking damage, and you can endlessly heal them by using Kimahri's Cure, since he has an unlimited supply of MP thanks to his Lancet ability, or by going to the Save Sphere to restore everyone's HP including Valefor. The Save Sphere is the only way to heal Valefor anyways. Because of the unlimited healing you'll be able to have access to the Yuna's, Lulu's, and Wakka's Overdrives which you aren't tutored upon. Plus with the 3 different monsters here they can drop nearly 50 different pieces of equipment for all your characters. The only catch to it, is that they drop equipment not very often, in fact they rarely drop equipment. But if you're dedicated enough, try and get as many pieces of equipment as you possibly can. You can't save in the demo, so the only limit you have is the amount of time you can stand continuously playing ^_^. Here's a short little reference guide to go by: Using Yuna's Overdrive: Yuna's Overdrive is a snap to use. It's called Grand Summon, and it works the same way as a normal summoning, except the Aeon you summon immediatly has their Overdrive gauge filled and at the ready. Using Wakka's Overdrive: Wakka's Overdrive has a fairly simple premise, he has one set of slots to choose from called the Element Slots. Basically what you try to do is get 3 colors the same The effects are as follows: 3 Red: Fire Attack - Double damage 3 Yellow: Lightning Attack - Double damage 3 Blue: Water Attack - Double Damage 3 White: Ice Attack - Double Damage 2 Red: Fire Attack - 50% more damage 2 Yellow: Lightning Attack - 50% more damage 2 Blue: Water Attack - 50% more damage 2 White: Ice Attack - 50% more damage 1 Any: Physical Attack - 25% more damage Using Lulu's Overdrive: Lulu's Overdrive is kind of annoying, but here's how to use it. First select her Overdrive command, Fury. A list of her Black Magic will appear, choose one of them and you'll see now it targets all monsters. When executed, rotate the Right analog stick as many times as possible within the time limit given. When the time limit is up, the Spell you chose will be casted a number of times equal to the number you successfully rotated the analog stick, and hit random monsters in quick succession. Each hit from the spell is only half as powerful as normal. Use Lulu's Thunder Fury Overdrive (tough) Note: I recommend using Valefor's Overdrive when all 3 monsters are encountered at once, as it'll easily Overkill them all. 7: Occasionally in battle if you're fighting for long periods of time, there's a small chance a little message will pop saying "(Character) has learned Overdrive mode (Whatever)". Even though the message pops up you are unable to Overdrive Modes, because you need to have access to the menu to activate these modes. I'm unsure of how many are available but I've only managed to get one additional Overdrive mode and that's Comrade for Lulu. ======================================================================= Besaid Island Scenario Odds and Ends Q&A Q1: What are the White Squares on the Minimaps? A1: Those White Squares denote the location of Save Spheres. You can't save in the demo, obviously, but you can use them to restore all HP and MP for everyone, including Valefor Q2: If the White Squares are Save Spheres, is there any way I can reach those Save Spheres on the first screen? A2: No you can't reach them in the demo, you'll probably be able to get to them in the final game I'd imagine Q3: I can see a Treasure chest on a ledge well above Tidus on the first screen. Is it possible to get to it? A3: Again, you can't reach that Treasure chest in the demo. But you'll probably be able to in the final game Q4: I can see a White Square on the mini map in the second screen, but where is it located? A4: That Save Sphere is actually located beneath the second bridge on a small ledge in the path of that waterfall. You can't reach it in the demo. Q5: Is that a Treasure chest I see there as well below that bridge? A5: Yep it's a treasure chest, and......yeah you guessed it you can't get to it in the demo either. Q6: Is there anything on the other path in the third screen, you know the other exit where the arrow isn't pointing to? A6: No, there's nothing to be found in that other area over there. ======================================================================== Voice Over listings: Tidus: Start Battle - "I hope I make it to the Tournament."
