Final Fantasy Tactics Advance: Summoner and Other Job Classes Revealed
12.20.02 Roogle

With less than two months before the release of Final Fantasy Tactics Advance in Japan, Square has announced that the classic summon monsters, or sacred beasts, will be making an appearance in the game. New job classes have also been announced.

Square has released additional information about job classes, as well as confirming the appearance of sacred beasts. Like its predecessor, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance will make use of summoning during battles.

To aqcuire a sacred beast for use in battle, the player must first obtain a crystal, and then undergo various quests; at the end of the quests, the player will be awarded with a sacred beast corresponding with the crystal's element. For example, finding a fire crystal will eventually give you access to summoning Ifrit. So far, the confirmed sacred beasts to appear are the traditional trio of summon monsters: Ramuh, Ifrit, and Shiva. More sacred beasts are expected to be available during the course of the game.

Some more information on the job class system found within the game has also been released. Characters will start out with a roster of three basic job classes which they can specialize in--the jobs vary depending on what race the character is. As the game progresses, players will find new items and accessories which a character can use or equip to learn new abilities, eventually mastering a specific class. When classes are mastered or raised to a certain skill level, other classes will become available.

Four new job classes have been announced: Mystic Knight, Atelier, Geomancer, and the Summoner. The Mystic Knight will be able to imbue magic spells into his sword, while the Geomancer will be able to summon the might of nature to attack the enemy.

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance will be released in Japan on February 14, 2003. A probable North American release has not yet been confirmed.
