Beta Applications for Final Fantasy XI Now Available
04.18.03 Roogle
Square Enix USA is now accepting applications for its upcoming Public Beta test. Anyone may apply for either the Playstation 2 Beta or the PC Beta.
As talks of Final Fantasy X-2 began and talks of Final Fantasy XI slowly dwindled, many gamers wondered if Square's massively multiplayer online RPG would even be released in the United States; however, with this Beta test, Square Enix USA reaffirms that the game will be released in North America, not only for just the PC, but possibly for the Playstation 2 as well.
Many sites had speculated that because the hard drive for the Playstation 2 has not been released in North America, the Playstation 2 version probably would not see a North American, but, in this upcoming Beta test, the hard drive is not among the requirements to try out the game. Could it be that Square Enix is planning to release Final Fantasy XI for Playstation 2 without the support of the hard drive peripheral?
As taken directly from the application site, the minimum requirements for the Beta are:
Requirements for PlayOnline Public Beta version for Windows®
-Pentium® III 800Mhz
-Windows® 98/98SE/ME/2000/XP
-DirectX® 8.1 (included)
-32MB Direct3D compatible AGP video card
-128MB RAM
-CD-ROM drive
-5GB of free hard drive space
