Q. I don't have a domain. Where can I purchase one?
A. Click the domain registration button on the left menu. You can also access additional domain name features from the domain management menu. If you don't have or wish to purchase a domain, you can have a primary subdomain to point to your hosting account at yourname.ionhosting.com. Keep in mind, if you don't have a domain and wish to purchase hosting, you will not get subdomain support with your account.
Q. How long does it take for the world to access my domain name?
A. We, of course, will setup your domain name on our servers within a
few hours. However after this time period, it truly depends on ALL
networks and ISPs of the world to update their servers and lookup
your new domain name. Some popular dial-up ISPs (i.e. Earthlink,
Slip.Net, Sprynet, Grid.Net) take less then 6 hours to update
their servers, while others will take more than 2 days. So if you
are still using a dial-up connection to the Internet, make sure
you have a reliable ISP that promptly updates its DNS servers, so
you can access yourdomain.com right away.
Q. How do I transfer my domain to your servers?
A. Here are the steps to move your domain to our servers from
another hosting company.
1. Sign up for the hosting plan of your choice now.
2. After you sign up, we will send you login instructions and the
nameservers you need to use to transfer your domain. You can
upload the files to your site using the login information we
provide you.
3. You will then take the nameserver information we provide you
and submit a request to the registrar where your domain is
registered to have the DNS of your domain modified.
4. Once the modifications to your domain have been completed and
the changes have had time to resolve throughout the Internet you
would cancel your old hosting account.
If you do the steps in this order, you should experience no
downtime to your domain.
Q. Do you offer secure server space for transferring credit card
information?
A. Yes, with our Business or Premium Plan, a secure server is included
at no additional charge.
Q. How are sub domains handled for each package I purchase?
A. Each package you purchase will specify how many sub domains are permitted per domain as well as the size of each sub domain. You can request to have the domain forwarded to a directory by contacting us.
Q. What if I need to upgrade my account plan?
A. It's easy. Contact our hosting support department. We
will upgrade your account. Your credit card will reflect the
new fee for the upgraded plan.
Q. How do you handle technical support?
A. In the event that you require technical support for your hosting account, you can submit a
technical support request to our hosting support department.
Q. What if I exceed my bandwidth allowance?
A. Additional charges of $1.50 per gig will be charged to your
account.
