09.20.01 - The Mailbag
We finally launch our Mailbag for the first time since the inception of this site. Since
we don't have a lot of e-mails to offer this round, make sure to send us your thoughts about the series,
the authors, the music, the site, anything related to Final Fantasy or the gaming
community, to appear in the next Mailbag update. If you'd like a non-responsive comment to appear, keep it short and pithy.
Send your all your mailbag stuff to locke@ffonline.com or dh@ffonline.com.

Would you happen to know anything about a pc release for ff9. Or, would you know where I could find that information and possibly a release date.
- immoraleyes
FFIX PC will never see the light of day. Why?
1. The previous PC releases sucked. FFVII had inferior graphics, a terrible user interface and sound quality usually reserved for low-budget titles like Pong 3D. As for the FMV transfer, I hadn’t seen so many low-resolution .avi files since I stumbled onto my brother’s secret porn archives.
2. Sales were pitiful. Square would lose less money by tossing briefcases full of yen into an incinerator rather than releasing another lackluster PC port. With their recent Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within fiasco and the amount of cash they’re hemorrhaging into the nonsensical PlayOnline venture, they wouldn’t dare pump out another loser.
If you have a Playstation and still want FFIX PC, go out and buy a second PSX copy of the game. That’s exactly what you’d be getting if they released a PC version. If you don’t own a Playstation and still want to play FFIX, find a copy of Connectix’s Virtual Game Station. It will run FFIX without any problems.

any chance of FFX being released for PC? Nothing would make me happier. I don't have the $300 to shell out for a PS2.
GO ANALOG!
- funwithknives
$300 for a PS2? Now that’s just ridiculous. Adding tax, an extra controller, a memory card and the game itself, you’ll pay around $450. I’d suggest you get a job fast, too, because FFX has as much chance of a PC release as I have of sprouting wings from my ass and flying upside-down into the sky.

Hi, I just read your soundtrack review, and I firmly disagree with your ideas. First, about Uematsu having mixed genres into recent games. Well, some genres produce better feelings/moods than others, and say he is loosing his touch. If your going to sit there and rant and rave about how when listening to your cds you "find yourself wondering if you are listening to big band jazz, at others, you may wonder if you accidentally left your radio on and the local alternative music station", dont forget his number one motive for creating the music was to help set the right mood for the scenes they would be played in, not for the 4 cd soundtrack. And he certainly didn’t make it to impress some dick who is going to make a review about how the genre's are mixed, for some two-bit site that is implying that he be replaced.
~ canuck316
Uematsu’s #1 motive for creating the soundtrack involved a check with several 0’s and the fact that he gets a tiny percentage of the profits from every game sold. Musical integrity ranks fifth on his list, narrowly edging out what to cook for dinner. If some of this music is supposed to set the mood for scenes in the game, I don’t want to see those scenes. Ever.
Keep in mind that it’s just music for a videogame. Don’t wet your pants whenever a reviewer on a “two-bit site” (with over 13 million hits) has a different opinion.

OK,
Look mate, what is it with u people and your constant petty " remember final fantasy IV..." give it a rest will u, for christ sake, every review I look out I have to made aware that the gamer writing the article played final fantasy 4, to be honest, I don't give a shit! I had a snes i had final fantasy 4, i don't even reckon u did, your just trying to make out, oh I liked them for ages, GIVE IT A REST!!! NO ONE CARES!! Secret of mana had a multiplayer option of being the girl or the sprite, I mean it's just u always have to make that same stupid point! And that wasn't half of what gave me the head fuck! What is it with you people, Final fantasy VIII was like a dream come true it is the greatest final fantasy released, I loved the old games, they are collecting dust on the shelf with donkey kong and the rest, and evermore, and whatever. But in looking at FF8 and FF4, FF8 is out of this world, the characters are so deep, everything about the whole game is great, and i'm just waiting to see if square can rival it! so far they haven't! AND STOP WITH YER BULLSHIT, JUST WRITE THE REVIEW OR WHATEVER IT IS U DO, WITHOUT SOME SHITE EXCUSE FOR TRYING TO MAKE SOME WANK POINT FOR NO BLOODY REASON, SHITHEAD! AND THEN DON'T SLAG OFF SOME TOP QUALITY GAMES AND COMPARE THEM TO GOLDEN OLDS THAT ARE SHIT IN COMPARISON!
Oh no, I've never played Final Fantasy IV. My incredible psychic ability is what allows me to recite portions of the game's script from memory, and I'm an incredibly large Kain fanboy just because I orgasm over every name that starts with the letter K. You caught me. I never played it. Ever. Not once.
And yes, the characters in Final Fantasy VIII are extremely deep. If you consider a kiddy wading pool "deep."
Oh, and one last thing. Next time you're somewhere there's a dictionary, go to it, look up the words "Review" and "Preview" and note the differences between those two words. Thanks.
- Valvados
