Favourite FF7 boss battle

Barret vs. Dyne is my favorite because of the (mostly negative) impact it left on me. Strange, I know, but it stands out emotionally for me because of that impact.

I always wondered more about Dyne. A troubled character...

Not a particular battle, but I had many enjoyable Battle Arena fights, probably still my favourite minigame because of the endless possibilities it could throw up. I remember once ending up against the Serpent with all commands and materia broken, weapon broken and wearing the Minerva Band. That fight seemed to last forever but I was too stubborn to lose all my hard earned points.

Other more conventional favourites include Demon Wall, Lost Number, Materia Keeper and the weapon fought near Midgar (Diamond?)

Yes, that's Diamond Weapon (it comes up out of the ocean and walks towards Midgar).

Yup, Diamond WEAPON is definetely one of my favourite boss fights - especially as I managed to get that battle down almost to an artform in not only coregraphing Still More Fighting with each character summoning in quick succession, I was usually able to defeat it before it used it's super attack (Diamond Flash I think it was called?), while still taking time to steal the Rising Sun. ;)

Most of the early boss fights I really liked too, like Airbuster outside the Number 5 Reactor, Aps in the Sector 6 Sewers under Wall Market (the comments made by TIfa and Aeris was a perfect example of understatement ;)), Reno at the top of the Sector 7 Support Tower, Rufus on the balcony of the President's Office at the Shinra Building, and Motorball at the end of the highway.

I guess I really enjoyed boss fights that were logical and had a proper connection to the plot and weren't just plonked into the game because the developers felt there needed to be a boss fight there.

Jenova SYNTHESIS gets high marks too for the awesome music (Jenova ABSOLUTE). Uematsu really needs to do an orchestral arrangement of this. ;)
