FFIX is my favorite of the three. FFVII is pretty close and I love the world of FFVIII, I just wish the gameplay and story were executed better.

FFVIII even though the story was so damn convoluted and full of plot holes (more so than the others). As much as people harp on the characters I think as a whole the game has the best developed characters in the franchise and they are more identifiable (to an extent). Also I am a sucker for love stories.
