Some decent themes to offset the bad:

That sounds like a better cast than FFXIII's.

Really, it doesn't matter to me what they do, since they brought back XIII's combat system. I already got more than I ever wanted of it.

Looks awesome, actually. Unfortunately, the rest of the game probably won't be that way. This should be the prologue to a new game/ip, unrelated to XIII, titled something like Valhalla Siege.

It's you guys' fault

I actually like that Limit Break song. It sounds like just the thing to beat up a giant chili pepper flan made out of like fifteen smaller chili pepper flans to. Also I think it's singing about the plot, although it's hard to tell since English doesn't mean anything. I guess being a protagonist and fighting time or something, that's what's going on in Thirteen Two, right? I dunno, all I know is DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT.

But yeah, I'm actively conflicted by this game because everything design-related looks stupid and/or dumb and Squeenix has almost certainly learned all the wrong lessons about linearity and game presentation, but the battle system still looks pleasing enough despite being pokemon and time travel is the shiznit. I've been waiting for confirmation of the newly-designed Sazh to swing my vote--if he looks ridiculous enough I'll just skip the whole thing--but the internet still hasn't spat him out yet as far as I can tell, so...

Only two playable characters for the entire game is a killer for me - no wonder they cranked this out in a year.
Also the chocobo song is actually the main song while riding a chocobo, I thought it was just a bonus!

Oh yeah, I'll definitely play the game because I think the gameplay is going to be great, but the soundtrack, like X-2's, is destined to be forever sucky. Honestly, I'd rather listen to X-2's soundtrack.

Having only two playable characters really does blow.

Apparently SE didn't puss out with this game as far as the storyline and ending goes. Word is both the storyline and ending are pretty depressing which already sets it apart from X-2. It will be interesting to see just how dark it gets.

That Chocobo theme is fucking ear rape.

But I rather like this track

That's a pretty good song actually, the artist sounds familar...

EDIT: Yeah it's Origa, haven't heard from her in a while. She did the opening to GitS: Stand Alone Complex.

I heard something rather disturbing about the end of the game actually and the future of the FF13 franchise.
