This reminded me I really need to find the time for an FFIX replay - I THINK I've only played it once the whole way through even though it's one of my top FF games. Although do I just hold out hope for a remake?

Yep, still gaming

All this talk about it across sites made me start it last night.

I usually level up a lot in the forest, before the first big fight (with a giant flower thingie) but this time i decided not to do so much leveling ( Zidane level 4 and Vivi and Steiner level 2) and was taken unawares! the flower thingie started using Thunder and I was never able to recuperate.

Game Over on the first fight!. :D

I would gladly buy an FFIX remake that (a) used those gorgeous backgrounds, (b) redid the spell and summon effects so they took much less time, and (c) upped the overall combat speed about 10x.
