Hey guys,

Who was the admin on FFO who helped remake Metal Gear Solid for the GameCube? I'm interested in remaking some old games and it might be handy to get in touch with them.

Haven't seen him in years. Really since right after Twin Snakes came out. Given Silicon Knights' well document problems he probably isn't employed there anymore.

Why? Outside of it just being easy and the crazy john woo cutscenes I though TTS was pretty good.

I don't get why people said TTS ruined the Ocelot fight. Surely being able to peek and duck around the columns in first person is a bit more believable than two fully grown men chasing each other in circles like Tom and Jerry with firearms and a trenchcoat?

TTS ruined every fight, pretty much, by slapping another's games mechanics onto them without spending much time actually adapting stuff to make it fit together smoothly. It was like CGI'ing Christian Bale over the top of Michael Keaton in Burton's Batman...or something. In fanciful theory, an improvement...in reality, a stupid unsightly mess that ruins everything.

edit: oh and the GC controller was just woefully inadequate. But that was a mess of a design to begin with, nobody's fault but Ninty's.

Personally, I can barely stand to play the original MGS after playing TTS. Who cares about the John Woo style fights, particularly in light of MGS2, 3, and 4's cinematic BS? And the actual gameplay and technical side of the game was improved in pretty much every possible way. I don't fathom how that can add up to it being a worse game.

Not Even My Dad Hit Me

Count me in among the people who liked Twin Snakes. New mechanics never did get in my way and, yeah, it's not as if the cutscenes were any more ridiculous than the story.
