Main Theme/Intro: Both solid, but I think I'll go with Dark Dawn.

Battle: Stage of Death gets this one.

Dungeon/Field: Forest of the Black Moon.

Character: Febronia.

Boss Battle: having sex with your mom in the gas chamber Knight of Fire.

Dungeon/Field 2: Fuse.

Character 2: Surprisingly, Hepatica gets it. I love October Mermaid, but I've never actually heard it in context due to not having finished XG. Never heard Hepatica before today, either. Both are beautiful songs.

Special Battle: Flight.

Final Dungeon: To the Last Place.

Final Battle: Promised Pain.

Ending Theme/Song: Small Two of Pieces.

Epic Battle: Godsibb.

Wild Card: A New World.

---

This was a really fun matchup! I've always liked XG's OST despite not having finished the game, and I like what I've heard of XS3's from this. Good choices.

As good as Xenogears is, Xenosaga III is just better.  It's a legitimate nominee for best game soundtrack of all time, and it is just fantstically epic and emotional.  My pics lean that way.  The only REAL flaw with XS III's soundtrack is the singer to "Maybe Tomorrow."  She's just awful.

Main Theme/Intro:  A Prelude to the Tragedy

Battle:  Stage of Death

Dungeon/Field:   In a Limestone Cave

Character:   Febronia

Boss Battle:  The Battle of Your Soul

Dungeon/Field 2:  Fuse

Character 2:   Hepatica

Special Battle:  Flight

Final Dungeon:   To the Last Place

Final Battle:  Promised Pain

Ending Theme/Song:  Small Two of Pieces

Epic Battle:   Godsibb

Wild Card:   A New World

Woe unto he who tries to be helpful, for upon him shall be lain the burdens of all.

Main Theme/Intro:  Dark Dawn.  Pretty tough decision.

Battle:  Stage of Death, easily.

Dungeon/Field:  In a Limestone Cave.  I really like the second half of FotBM.

Character:  GSitNS is fantastic, but I have to give it to Febronia.

Boss Battle:  Knight of Fire.

Dungeon/Field 2:  Fuse.

Character 2:  October Mermaid.  Hardest choice, by far.

Special Battle:  Flight.

Final Dungeon:  Omen.  Incredible.

Final Battle:  One Who Bares Fangs at God.  I love both, though.

Ending Theme/Song:  Small Two of Pieces.  MT is great, thematically, but I agree with Darth Howie about the vocalist.

Epic Battle:  Godsibb, easily...and that's saying a lot because Awakening is awesome.

Wild Card:  The Treasure Which Cannot Be Stolen.  Another hard choice.

---

Wow, I thought it was going to be closer.

Main Theme/Intro: To A World Becoming Impure still gives me chills all these years later.

World Map: Sky Gate ftw, one of my favorite world map themes ever.

Village 1: Nigh to the Twilight of Everything is one of the best town themes I've ever had the pleasure of hearing. It's beautiful compositionally, and also sets the mood perfectly for the gloomy, dark atmosphere of the towns it plays in. Midgard isn't supposed to be a bright and cheery world, and Sakuraba captured its feel so well in this tune.

Battle: Vicious 1915 is good, but when I've played the game, I'm okay with taking a break from it for a while when it hits the Japan portion. Meanwhile, I've played VP many more times, and have never tired of Unfinished Battle with God Syndrome. It's my all-time favorite regular battle theme.

Dungeon/Field 1: Callback from Jesus is pretty, but At the Bottom of Hell is Distortion is just too fun.

Boss Battle: Confidence in the Domination.

Village 2: Tough one. I'll give it to Rising Sun.

Dungeon/Field 2: Dropping to the Negative Not By Choice.

Special Battle: Fuck yes Ladder to Heaven. I love the battles where this plays, just for this badass track. (I'd love them more if the battles weren't so easy, but it is what it is.)

Dungeon/Field 3: Chronic Trembling Category almost by default, though it's also a great song in its own right.

Final Dungeon: Uh, I don't know who decided that SH:C's final dungeon should have the Japan regular battle theme as its BGM, but I'd like to slap them with a trout. Cause WTF. To the Last Drop of My Blood, meanwhile, is a great song in a fun dungeon in... the least memorable of the game's endings. Sigh.

Final Battle: I love True Nature of All, but The 3 Karma is just better. Fantastic collaboration of the game's three main composers.

Ending Theme/Credits: I was going to go with Getsurenka, but at the last minute I have to choose Like Becoming Accustomed to Happiness. I love the A ending.

Wild Card: Take a Flight is awesome. Gathering God is a really fun theme too, though.

---

Like you with the Xeno one, I thought this would be a bit more even. (Though admittedly, it's not like SH:C gave me a lot to work with in the dungeon themes...)

Main Theme/Intro:  To A World Becoming Impure.  Amazing.

World Map:  Sky Gate, easily.  Love it!

Village 1:  Spiritualization is good, but Night to the Twilight of Everything takes it.

Battle:  Unfinished Battle With God SyndromeTo my side, my noble Einjerhar.  That is all.

Dungeon/Field 1:  At the Bottom of Hell is Distortion.  Wow, VP is on a streak.

Boss Battle:  Confidence in the Domination.

Village 2:  Between the Water, Wind and Light.

Dungeon/Field 2:  Death is the Great Leveller.  SH is on the board!

Special Battle:  Ladder to Heaven.  Big time.

Dungeon/Field 3:  Chronic Trembling Category.

Final Dungeon:  To the Last Drop of My Blood.  I like DiC as a battle theme, though.

Final Battle:  Both are incredible, but I'll go with The 3 Karma, as well.

Ending Theme/Credits:  Getsurenka.

Wild Card:  Take a Flight.

---

Great fun, again.  I need to do a SH:C run in the near future.

Yeah, Deep in Coma is a really good battle theme, but a bizarre choice for a final dungeon theme.

Putting this together and listening to it makes me think another VP run is in the near future. XD

Do it!  I satisfied my hunger recently.  I do need to throw in Silmeria, though.  It's been on my shelf since release.

AAAAAAAAAAARGGGHHHH. I spent 30 minutes writing up a great post on the XG vs XS3 battle but I accidently clicked on another tab in my browser and it died. At the old FFO my work woulda been saved..shoulda been more careful... And this is the first time I didn't write these up on microsoft word first.  That's what I get. I'll put my votes in without all the description and explanation...sigh. Oh well, still gonna throw this in for catch up.

I've done that.  Sucks.

Your votes would've changed the outcome on this one.  I don't mind waiting as long as I know that you are definitely going to vote.  It's not my intention to be rushing you.

Crono can cross dimensions too!

Main Theme/Intro:  VP.  I get the feeling I'll be writing that a lot.

World Map: VP.

Village 1: VP by far.  Covenant's track is enjoyable though.

Battle: VP even though I'm sick of it.

Dungeon/Field 1:  VP doesn't even sound like it's the right genre here but it kicks ass.

Boss Battle: Again VP even though again I'm sick of battle music.

Village 2: Covenant.  I don't even remember this VP song.

Dungeon/Field 2: Covenant.  Very cool track.

Special Battle:  Covenant.  Not usually a techno person but this is sweet.

Dungeon/Field 3: VP.  Can't really vote for a 20 second song.

Final Dungeon:  VP.  I got sick of Covenant's on this first listen.

Final Battle:  VP.  Great organ build up in C's though.

Ending Theme/Credits:  Oh WOW I really, really enjoy Covenant's.  This just made my top ten favorite ending songs.

Wild Card:  Wow, what a serious WILD card.  I'll go with VP because Covenant is just ass.

Currently Playing: Dark Cloud 2: 3 hours.
Also Playing: CT, FF VI, Solatorobo, Secret of Mana, Halo 4.
Just Finished: Fable II: 7 hours.

These are just for fun anyway, you are at a good pace. I'd rather you not wait for me when I take awhile, the more of these we get in the better ;D

Anyway I definiely won't be slow on this next one!  Love both these games and both have great soundtracks.

Duel 9

Valkyrie Profile vs. Shadow Hearts: Covenant (sponsored by Luna)

Main Theme/Intro:  VP. To A World Becoming Impure gets the vote here. I don't really like Deep Meditation, and To a World Becoming Impure sounds all sorts of epic and introductoryish.

World Map: VP.   Sky Gate   - Man i LOOOOOVE Sky Gate..  I could listen to it for hours on end, its just got the rhythym.  Grey Memories is quite an excellent tune, and never gets old, so it was close.

Village 1: VP.  Night to the Twilight of Everything - SERIOUS goosebumps on this one. I've gone to sleep to this song many times, that's how much it relaxes me. It's sorrowful but still so peaceful. Spiritualiziation is also really great and gives the same feeling but its just not as memorable.

Battle:  VP. Unfinished Battle With God Syndrome. CLOSE, as Vicious is very unique and impressive, but Unfinished Battle is too damn epic of a battle theme, I give it the love here. The theme just screams "lets kick these demons and weird souls' asses!"

Dungeon/Field 1: VP  At the Bottom of Hell is Distortion . its the easy choice here. Man one of my favorite dungeon themes ever.  Callback from Jesus is a sweet, nice sounding song though.

Boss Battle: VP  Confidence in the Domination.  fantastic and memorable sounding boss theme, I'm always so excited to fight a boss largely because of this. I don't care for Glint of Light.

Village 2: SH2.   Rising Sun. A nice, calm town theme. Calm between is very meh, not one of my favorite themes. Not close. Score a vote for SH2 at last!

Dungeon/Field 2: VP.  Dropping to the Negative Not by Choice . Don't hav emuch to say here, it's just hte better dungeon theme.  There goes the "roll" SH2 was on, lol.

Special Battle:  SH2.  Ladder to Heaven is the EASY choice here. I LOVE this theme, one of my favorites from the game. I like the electronic dance bassline, mmm feed me that bass. Unique and memorable, truly a gem. At the Face is meh.

Dungeon/Field 3: VP.  Chronic Trembling Category. Nice matchup of tunes here..guess "Ill go with Chronic Trembling for being more than just a sound effect.

Final Dungeon: SH2. . Deep in Coma Close one, but I love that sound from Deep in Coma. Just so fresh and great.  To the last drop is amazing don't get me wrong, but I feel right going with Deep in Coma. Especially when you enter a final dungeon, you don't want it to sound like anything else you've heard in the game, and SH2 did that well.

Final Battle: VP.  The True Nature of All  by a lot. Karma is alright, but True Nature screams "IM FIGHTING THE MOST EVIL DUDE IN THE WORLD" ahem, and that's what I want final battle themes to do.  So recognizable too.

Ending Theme/Credits: SH2.  Getsurenka. I honestly really enjoy Getsurekna. Her voice brings me inner peace you could say. Close one though.

Wild Card: WILD CARD BITCHES!!!  VP.  Take a Flight  I'm gonna quote Luna as it's how I feel here. Take a Flight is awesome. Gathering God is a really fun theme too, though.

VP wins 10-4, a big win, but not near a sweep.
