I like Harper, though I only heard of her this week. She's got the standard tragic background, but with more than a hint of optimism and hope. She reminds me of Tim Drake starting out.

While I didn't dislike him, Damian never really grew on me. I think it's because if you remove his relationship with Batman, he comes off as a 90s action hero parody.

Action Comics #18: Last issue with Grant Morrison. Man...comics are going to be boring again after June. :(

While it wasn't the loveletter to the character that All Star Superman was, Morrison still told an incredibly good story that remained interesting and unique because it embraced a lot of the high concept stuff that makes comics what they are. I have no doubt that Andy Diggle will tell good stories with the character (his run on Hellblazer and Green Arrow: Year One more than sells his bonafides), but I don't think it'll be as fun as Morrison's. No one really uses high concept, silver age stuff in the way that Morrison does.

I really do wish that his run was a lot longer.

I have a blog. This is its URL. You should read it. It's about education and skepticism and books and it has a lot of pictures of Batman and Robin in it: https://baldermoon.wordpress.com/

Did Batwoman just bring back one of my favorite pre-reboot characters?  The one I've wanted in this comic since the very beginning?

I'm going to be sad next month when, just to spite me, the Mysterious New Character (TM) isn't Manhunter.

Bad news: Andy Diggle won't be working on Action Comics. He wasn't pulled, he just withdrew due to personal reasons.

Worse news: Tony Daniel will be taking over for him.

Well. That's a real shot to the nuts.

And, apparently, the guy who was going to take over Green Lantern Corps quit because Editorial ordered him to kill off John Stewart.

Is there something in the water at DC headquarters?

Just for the record, everyone should be reading Saga.

It's the first book in a while that's sorely tempted me to buy the singles instead of waiting for a trade to show up at the library.

Which is especially painful because Josh Fialkov is a fantastic writer. The good news there is that John Stewart will live.

I want to know how the fuck editorial doesn't learn their lesson no matter how many times shit like this happens.

Anyone subscribe to Marvel Unlimited?  I wasn't interested in the past, but now that you can use it on ipad...$60/yr for over 13K titles seems not bad.  And it says something like "most new titles" are put up within 6 months of release.  So anyone try it?

Why did Andy Diggle's issue on Action Comics have to be so good? Now it just makes the transition to Tony Daniels even worse. You get all excited because someone worthy might finally follow Grant Morrison's run for once (what is with that, anyway? Why is it that the writers that follow Grant Morrison's run on nearly anything are almost always terrible?), and then they pull out and you get TONY DANIELS.

So Carrie Kelley might be the next Robin.

I can't say I'm too excited.  I didn't really like her or the comic she's from, and I was hoping Harper would get the role.  Or Carrie might not be Robin, but I can't see a reason to bring her into things and keep her around for anything else.

Protip: the next five issues of Batman and Robin are themed around the five stages of grief. This month is 'WTF Month.' This issue is titled DENIAL. Oh, and, gullible isn't in the dictionary.

WTF Month?

Also I don't follow B&R at all so I didn't know that.  Still, the whole having long-term plans for her is what has me worried.  If it was a one-shot I wouldn't care so much but if she sticks around...  Well, I guess that's more reason to continue not following B&R.

Well, except that Tomasi has been writing one of the most character rich stories available, right now. I mean, he's made the characters and their emotional lives the center of the story, which is sadly a very rare feat in the DCU. There really is no reason to not be reading Batman and Robin, truth be told. It's right up there with Demon Knights, Green Lantern and All Star Western for me.

And yes, WTF Month: https://www.avclub.com/articles/wtf-is-going-on-at-dc-comics,91889/
