Fantasy MMORPG TERA Going Free-to-Play By Rinoa, January 16th, 2013
Fantasy would be an understatement for TERA; fantastical is more like it. The Korean-developed MMO with unparalleled character and world design that takes after Final Fantasy's fashion and design more than Final Fantasy's own MMORPGs will soon be something players can experience for free.
Hampered by a delayed launch, a subscription-based model, a questionably poor marketing effort and extremely short-lived and limited access beta testing phases, few gamers got to see what TERA had to offer. The game's action-based fighting is exactly that, and bland quest formats aside, no MMORPG has yet to even come close to it.
Starting February 1st, Tera will be available without subscription fees. Although there will be no limitations on content, new players will only be able to create two characters per server. Existing players will be able to retain their eight characters as well as other bonuses as thanks for supporting the game. Players who still wish to pay can get extra content or consumables as the game's shop expands.
More details can be found at the official TERA Web site.
