The Hulk
Good Boy

I've read that about six times now and I can't wrap my head around the idea that it would be the end of FF.  I need it explained in layman's (or complete idiot's) terms how that makes sense.

But they'll never make that game with the current staff.

That said, that Shinta guy who was the first comment is a fucking idiot.
Oh, I always hope that guy isn't anybody from here because, well, I hate that guy.

Don't worry, it doesn't make sense.  They are just saying some combination of words that they think makes them sound poetic enough that their reasons are fair and justified.

I love VII.  With every passing year I realize more and more that I would hate a remake.  Do I want VII to turn into the bumbling mess that is XIII/XIII-2?  Absolutely not.

Currently Playing: Dark Cloud 2: 3 hours.
Also Playing: CT, FF VI, Solatorobo, Secret of Mana, Halo 4.
Just Finished: Fable II: 7 hours.

Shadow
Comes and goes like the wind...

I used to always hate what I saw come out of Nintendo in recent years, I was playing the "New Super Mario Bros." games and they felt almost identical to Super Mario World on the SNES -- even down to some of the level designs. I kind of sat down and questioned like, how can Nintendo just keep rehashing like this.

But the honest truth is I don't think Nintendo makes the "New Super Mario Bros." for me, they make it for the next generation of kids that are right now 7 - 12 years old that would never have had or experienced the Super Nintendo version.

And this is another reason why I think you really could make a nice arguement for a remake, or even a sequel -- there's lots of children in this generation that would have just been too young in 1997 (or not even born) so they never got to experience it. It does kind of suck being an FF fan sometimes, I really want to get other people into the series but the only thing you can really find on store shelves to show to them is FFXIII and FFXIII-2, neither of which I think are great representations of the series.

But yeah, I'd love to see FFVII remade not for myself to play, but so a whole new young generation of people can appreciate the series past. I do realize they can download the PS1 version on their PS3, but I don't think I'm alone in suggesting that PS1 era games just don't age as well as SNES, and that people from the HD era might have a hard time going back to some of the early crude 3D found in Final Fantasy VII.

I could care less about a remake of VII. Out of all the FF's, this one is the most overrated. Fact is, this game could easily be polished and updated for a new generation if "reaching out" or "introducing a new audience" to Final Fantasy through VII was the goal. The problem is that Square-Enix wouldn't be satisfied with simply polishing the game such as FF7. They'd have to completely remake it from the ground up and they simply don't want to spend that kind of money on a title as old as 7.

Besides they'd find a way to fuck this up even if they did attempt it. They couldn't even make a decent movie sequel to the original game.

That's it, Final Fantasy VII will never be remade.

Just keep swimming

Personally, Iâ??m totally fine with not having a remake of FF7. Iâ??m completely comfortable with how the game has â??agedâ??, and I know that thereâ??s no way they can duplicate the gameplay perfectly (to my criteria of â??perfectâ??), even with a strictly graphical update (load times, etc. will be different). Having a second FF7 would seriously complicate evaluating FF7 accomplishments, which are already complicated enough with PSX vs PS2/3 vs PC and NTSC vs PAL issues.

The only upside I see to an FF7 remake is that it could draw new people into FF7, who otherwise wouldnâ??t play it for graphical reasons.

Of course, probably only 4 or so other people in the world share my extremely minority opinion on this issue.

Now that I think about it, thereâ??s actually little that could be done regarding a strictly graphical update anyway. The area map backgrounds are hand-painted and perfect. Really that only leaves the world map rendering, the area map sprites (the â??SDâ?? characters), the in-battle areas, and the battle characters sprites and enemies. In my opinion, these are all fine as is. The fact that theyâ??re SD gives the area map sprites a certain timeless quality that they wouldnâ??t have if the designers were intending for realism (the way they were for FF8 area map sprites). To me itâ??s in the same category as the Dragon Quest 8 cell shading. But since the list of things to update is actually relatively small, does anyone think that a group of artistic FF7 fans might be able to make a mod for FF7PC to update these things?

EDIT: okay, looking at that other thread now.

So Sigh Ety

I'm just waiting for the news that it's being remade as a cell phone games. That kind of shit always happens when you are waiting for a game for decades, suddenly you find out they've made a shitty one on a cell phone.

that's so sad to hear. :( im not a super fan of ff7. i've enjoyed paying it, but im one of those gamers who's hoping that if they'll may be recreate ff7. an ff8 remake might not be far behind! hahaha. (ff8 is my fave, ff10 comes close 2nd.) well, now that hopeful idea goes down the drain now too. :( im still hoping that they can make another good FF. i honestly like this franchise, and im still holding my breath for a good release. :)
