Legend World: Become a Virtual Hero By Jiro, January 11th, 2013
Being a part of the Square Enix members program in Japan has its very own browser based RPG mode: Legend World.
It's commonly accepted that, in the realm of video games, Japan has access to awesome and exclusive stuff. Square Enix: Legend World looks like one of those things. Built out of the Square Enix members program, the game turns the player's avatar into a monster slayer, teaming up with friends to adventure around and fight famous Final Fantasy foes.
Counted among the familiar monsters are Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers versions of Bomb, Goblin, and King Behemoth, while the Ring Wyrm, Cactaur, and Alraune are visiting from Final Fantasy XII.
Legend World is built using Stage 3D and Flash to emulate a 3D RPG; it looks like a crisper version of the Final Fantasy IV 3D port with stylised chibi art. There's a "simple view" if the specs are too high, streamlining the battle interface. It plays the same way no matter which style you choose.
Square Enix is searching for participants in the closed beta to begin soon, with a Gold Shield given as a reward. Of course, non-Japanese fans will have to wait and see if anything like this makes it way outside of Japan.
