I certainly hope they do - the connection to XIII seems ambiguous, especially with XIII having a sequel.

Come to think of it, having XIII, XIII-2 and vsXIII is stupid. What other gaming series would come up with that crap?

They should re-brand as XV - they're really dropping the ball with all the spin-offs and platform shifts... the shit they did to XII was ridiculous... and don't get me started on what they did to VII...

There's not a single connection that I can see between XIII and vs.XIII. With XIII-2 on the way, vs.XV just needs to be cast onto its own.

Not to mention, it's taking them long enough.

Now, as I look back I see the crooked path that I had been set upon all those years before, leading me inexorably to this moment. I can still see her face in my mind's eye, poor dear Laura, such a sad tale is ours. A tale of heroes who strove to save humanity only to lose our own.

I do. It would be a poor choice for them to attach FFXIII's stigma to this game. I'm actually hoping for it to be renamed tbh.

Don't FF13 and Vs. share a common mythology/theology or something?

Though that's something that can easily be changed if they rebranded it to "FFXV" or something else. Hell, Type-0 had even more stuff in common with FF13 (and I think is still in Nomura's Latin Fetish Universe that FF13 started, though I could be wrong) like l'Cie's and such, but they changed the name. Probably a marketing decision to get rid of FF13's taint.

It will sell more copies of they rebrand it. Plus FFXIII-2 will make this game's title even MORE confusing (and stupid).

One could argue that all of Final Fantasy shares a common mythology, so meh if they have to make it into XV.

Yeah, but most of them don't have identical gods and creation myths. This seems to be the case with what we've seen of V13, and they made somthing of a big deal about the creation myth in v13 mentioning several of the entities we see/meet/ know about from 13 itself.

It doesn't need a 13 label, necessarily, though the Fabula Nova Crystalis thing seems to be the label for that basic universe set, like the Ivalice Alliance, so that would work as a replacement indicator.

The only news is that the song they had made for it ages ago is now DLC for ..... the Theatrythmn whatever game in Japan.

Well if they don't, we won't see a new FF game for at least three years. Given the complete lack of any information about FF15 and that next gen consoles are out next year, I wouldn't be too surprised if production has shifted over to them.

Which is why we're getting FFXIII-3 to tide us over for a year I assume...
