medicine woman

there's no way they can do kingdom come of anywhere near the quality of the book due to alex ross' art.  there's no way the nuke aftermath scene will look anywhere as good animated.

trust me, i'm a doctor

If they do Kingdome Come it'll just be like New Frontier:  kinda okay, but mostly sorta bland, especially when compared to the source material.

A lot of the DC animated movies improve upon the comic they're based on.  Maybe the shitty JL arc can be made into something enjoyable.

I need to see Flashpoint Paradox, but given how ambivalent I am toward Barry Allen it'll probably be awhile.

In the meantime I still fucking hate what they're doing to the Question in the New 52.  Why, Geoff Johns?  Why?

Marvel is seriously starting to overtake DC as far as quality goes these days.  I find myself waaay more hype for the Marvel books I read than the DC ones now.

Grant Morrison to the rescue!

All will be well.

I have a blog. This is its URL. You should read it. It's about education and skepticism and books and it has a lot of pictures of Batman and Robin in it: https://baldermoon.wordpress.com/

No no no no no no no no no no no no no no no.

I get terrified every time Morrison comes anywhere close to a character I love.

EDIT:  Wait.  Ted Kord?  What the fuck?

Pax Americana is a recreation of the Charlton universe that Ted Kord, Nightshade, Peacekeeper and Vic Sage came from. It will be in the eight-part Multiversity series that Morrison has been working on for...a very long time. It's going to be a...retelling of sorts of Watchmen, using the characters that Alan Moore originally wanted to use for Watchmen. I'm not at all sure just how close the story will be to the one that we're all familiar with, but the gist of it all is that Vic Sage and Ted Kord still exists and that we'll be getting stories of their adventure at...some point in the near future. It's just unclear when that will be since Multiversity has been in the works for quite awhile now.

We'll also be getting more of Final Crisis' Captain Atom as well, who will be the Dr. Manhattan analogue:

Give Life Back To Music

Huh.  That's pretty interesting.  I'm in no way up to date on the Watchmen universe, but I read the original and this looks cool.

Anyone that isn't reading All Star Western needs to re-examine their life.

Batman Inc #13 managed to be really good while being equally disappointing. Don't get me wrong, it was a great issue, but it was also incredibly anticlimactic, especially when measured against the other big closing chapters that Morrison wrote while with the Bat. It was still emotionally satisfying, and wholey resonant with what he had been working with, but I can't help but feel let down. I mean, if you want a good understanding of what I'm talking about, compare this issue to the last issue he wrote on Batman and Robin. Maybe it would've benefited from being double sized? Though, I doubt it. I just can't put my finger on it, or explain how, but the story just doesn't feel complete.

Spoiler: Move your mouse over the container to reveal.
Though, the thing that I was left feeling the best about was that Morrison flung the door wide open for Damian's eventual return. It's no longer a question of 'if,' but a question of 'when.' That's a storyline that I'm really excited about reading, whenever it hits the stands.

Detective Comics Annual #2 was also very good. Anyone who enjoys the more street level side of the Bat should be picking this series up. This particular issue was outstanding because of how much it made me empathize with Harvey Bullock, of all people.

Atma Weapon
I Am Pure Energy

I haven't been into comics since childhood. Out of curiosity I downloaded the Marvel iPad app and read a few new issues of X-Men. I have to say I'm really disappointed with it so far. Can anyone tell me if it gets better after issue #4?

I haven't been reading the new X-Men comic.  I've been enjoying Wolverine and the X-Men and All New X-Men, though.  Those might be worth checking out.

Yeah. Are you just reading the comic titled X-Men? The first issues of the most recent series? Terrible. Read Astonishing X-Men. The first 24ish issues are written by Whedon and are (mostly) gold. Also try Avengers Academy.

Actually, Astonishing X-Men is the one I've been reading.  It's a story arc about a biotech company called Benetech that develops a "cure" for mutation.  It sounds like you really like it.  I may try reading a few more issues and see if it gets better.

I mean its not for everyone I guess, but its probably the most universally liked run in recent Marvel history. I don't know, I mean if you still don't like it try a few other things, but maybe modern comics just aren't for you. :P

What a great week for comics.  Bedlam, Morning Glories, the Detective and Batman annuals...  Fucking great.

I think Captain Marvel stole the show, though.  I'm a sucker for that kind of selfless heroism.

EDIT:  Batman Inc.  Wasn't a huge fan of this issue (though it is one of Morrison's better endings in that it wasn't awful), but there is one thing I can't praise enough about it:  The Bruce/Jim dynamic.  I love when Jim is written like this, clearly aware that Bruce is Batman but he won't come out and say it.  I always find the idea that such a good detective can't figure that out when at least four other characters have deduced Batman's identity fucking stupid, and I'm glad Morrison wrote thier conversation like he did.
