Remakes have been remarkably common since pretty much the dawn of cinema. The attitude of "NO ONE IS ORIGINAL ANYMORE!!" when pointing at contemporary cinema is so short-sighted it's stupid. Heck, just look at this list of remakes: The Wizard of Oz Scarface A Fistfull of Dollars The Maltese Falcon ...and that's just a few. It's not even ostentably easier to remake a movie, either. It comes with its own baggage, lisencing, and creative pitfalls as much as an original film does-- and it's still not guaranteed to make bank at the box office. It's a weird thing to bother me, but it does.
