I wonder how people reacted to Val Kilmer being cast as Batman. If this reaction to Ben Affleck is any clue.....

Or move back further with Michael Keaton.

That said I don't like the Affleck casting. It seems like one of those hot potato casting of Superman during the early 2000's. It was like every A-List name in Hollwood was being consdered for that role.

I honestly see no reason why Affleck would accept this. He already turned down the chance to direct the Justice Leauge movie why would he accept being Batman. I see no way how taking this role benefits his career especially when he established himself as a very respecable film maker in recent years so even if this movie turns out to be a hit it's not going to help his repetoire. And if it bombs he's going to get a chunk of the backlash.

My guess is that Affleck agreed to do this only so he WB will help fund his future film projects. Much like reason why George Clooney and Steven Soderbergh agreed to do the Ocean movies and sequels, so they can do their own thing with the studio or at least use their salaries to fund their own passion projects. .

Also I am assuming Ben Affleck was the last resort since I can only imagine almost everyone would have turned down the role of Batman since Nolan's Trilogy is still fresh in most people's minds and they stand the risk of being compared to Bale (Heck Bale turned down $50 Million to reprise the role).

Given that more and more franchises are being adapted, that will never happen as it severely limits their career options.

Jessica Alba did Sin City after Fantastic Four.
Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson did Marvel movies after The Spirit.
Jon Favreau did Iron Man after Daredevil.
Michael Clarke Duncan did Sin City after Daredevil.
Natalie Portman did Thor after V for Vendetta.
Tommy Lee Jones did Captain America after Batman Forever.

In many cases their second movie is far better than their first movie. I don't see why they shouldn't be given that opportunity.

Guess the diffrence is some of those were rather obscure properties or relativley minor roles. Affleck is going to take the role of Batman and he already took Daredevil. Where as it's easy to forget something like The Spirit.

Actually, Bale wasn't actually offered $50 million. That was just a hypothetical from a website.

Sigh ... movie journalism. Which is a shame since journalism the film industry is pretty good.

But Bryan Cranston appears to have been cast as Lex Luthor ... all I have to say is Awesome pick (if true)

Daredevil is Marvel. Batman is DC. No universal inconsistency.

Besides, I think that's a dumb argument to begin with. We would never have had Chris Evans as Cap since he already played the Human Torch in the Fantastic Four movies.

Yeah, my bad.  I was going on the assumption that Daredevil was DC too.  That's what happens when you don't grow up on superhero comics and you don't get your facts straight before forming opinons, lol.  Anyway, I retract it now.  The only objection I have to it is that I don't picture him being a good Batman, but he could easily prove us wrong.

The casting of Affleck doesn't bother me nearly as much as the return of Snyder as director. I was terribly disappointed by Man of Steel, and have little faith in his ability to pull this movie off well, regardless of who's donning the batsuit.

God help us all if it's not a hoax, though.

I think he's doing a Funny or Die skit where he auditions to be Robin.

How do people feel about our Wonder Woman Gal Gadot?

Hard.

But I worry about their over eagerness to seize some Avengers glory.  That movie had a lot of a build up and groundwork laid before it came to pass and it was STILL kind of mediocre.  This one all feels far too rushed.  Having said that, Affleck is a really interesting Batman choice.  I can't speak to this woman as I know zilch about her, I imagine she won't be heavily featured anyway.

It won't matter who they pick because it'll be a token appearance, and one that has the potential to convince the studios never to greenlight an actual Wonder Woman movie.

She has the right look, at least. I'm happy they got someone from a Meditteranean country to play her. I also don't get the "She's too skinny!" complaints as she'll probably bulk up.

The movie is getting a little crowded, isn't it? If WW had her own movie, then bringing her in would make a bit more sense to me. Either she'll get a backstory and take up too much screentime in a film that's BATMAN VS SUPERMAN, or will barely get anything and we're left wondering why they'd even bother.

Personally, since having her own movie is obviously out right now, have WW cameo after the credits or something. You can't handle her like Marvel did to introduce Black Widow and Hawkeye because, well, she's WONDER WOMAN. This isn't a B-level hero we're talking about. I want to like you DC, I really do, but you make it so hard.
