I am really amused by Mog's discomfort at being thrown.   And he continues to protest!   Ah, good times.  I will continue to throw him for my amusement.

The only DLC my bro ended up getting was the extra battles and the Sazh chapter.  He really, really liked the game.  Which is a bit surprising since he was....not that impressed with XIII.

I'm really liking it so far, it's addressed any complaints I had with FFXIII. I'm finding it a lot more fun and less of a chore to play. I guess the music isn't the greatest but it's not grating on me either. The story is a bit far-fetched and as usual the characters are ridiculously young, but that kind of comes with the territory. I'm enjoying it more than the first and FFXII, so that's good.

Oh, and I really like Noel so far.  He's not a douche or an emo little bitch, so that's nice.

Yeah, Noel's Ezio costume may be out, but so long as Square Enix decides to charge $2.99 for any of their merely cosmetic upgrades, my money stays mine.

Not gonna happen.

I'm still hoping they release the game with all content on the disc sometime in the future.

I doubt that, SE loves their money.

What's sad here is that it's cheaper than what Namco is charging for their Tales of Graces alternate costumes.

FFXIII-2 now has Mass Effect costumes, Assassins Creed Costumes, and Prada Fashion. It's really sad to see FF come into this. FFXIII is already a bad game, then we have its sequel desperatley clining to tie ins to attract gamers.

I'm really having a rough time getting through this game. Despite the things it does right, It simply isn't compelling at all.

If each time period offered its own interesting story arc while also contributing to the overall plot, it'd be one thing. But I've already grown tired of traveling to a new time only to, once again, run around until I stumble upon the next artifact.

I agree with Noel being a somewhat refreshing character, but holy shit, Serah ranks up there with Vaan for least interesting protagonist of the series. And Caius is pretty much the most generic villain ever. I literally roll my eyes every time he speaks.

With an excellent time-traveling RPG for the DS still fresh in my memory, I can't play XIII-2 without thinking how amateurish it is by comparison. Instead of presenting a clear timeline, where you can easily see how your actions caused branches of history, XIII-2 presents you with a cluster of a chart, splintering into all kinds of nonsensical directions, which is damn near impossible to derive any meaning from.

That said, I've already invested 16 hours, so I'm pushing through the end. How long does the game take to finish, anyway?

I'm starting to get to the boring parts, myself, but I'm not having problems with the characters.  I still like Serah a lot more than most of the cast of the first game, and definitely more than Vaan and Penelo.   I guess Caius is pretty generic, but I don't mind. Helps that he sounds a lot like Margulis from Xenosaga I guess.  Unfortunately I feel like I've already figured out or they've given away most of the interesting backstory and plot twists.  But I've yet to find out how Lighting ended up in Valhalla in the first place, so there's one thing left un-revealed.

As for the timeline, there is another view for the Historia Crux, perhaps it makes more sense than the default view?  I haven't checked it out in detail, but it's there.

After several months of playing, I'm finally far enough into the game to glance at this thread without too much worries of spoilers.  I'm at what I assume is the front door of the final dungeon, but I seem to only have half the fragments in the game, which is bothersome.  When I had reached the final gate, I had actually thought the game was only half over, and I was just getting to the really good parts...and then the game is telling me in pretty obvious terms that I'm actually in the final stretch.  Very disappointing in that regard, but I like the story for what it is honestly, and the battle system is still fun, if not too easy because of all the levelling I did just farting around trying to explore every time period fully and capture every monster. The only challenges I've had in a long time are the DLC battles, and a few random nasties like the as yet unbeatable Tonberries and a very tough and unexpected random battle against a C'ieth with 300,000 HP.

And the DLC for this game is awesome, so I'm not sure where any complaints are coming from in that category.  The outfits are all pretty nifty, but the Colosseum battles are worth the price of the game alone.  And the Sazh episode was actually very well-done, despite not having any battles.  Fun character to control and a free and unbelievably useful monster assist?  Check.  Awesomely useful and addictive addition to the casino, as well as 10,000 free coins?  Check.  The true origins of Chocolina?  Check!

Seriously, this is what DLC should be.  Stuff that has no real impact on the actual story line or basic gameplay, but is a fun diversion and addition.  Throw in a heaping helping of excellent nostalgia value, and the whole thing is worth far more than the couple bucks it costs to download it.  I'm fighting a gun-toting Gilgamesh right now(11 million HP, and one of the best versions of BotBB I've ever heard) after getting my ass handed to me by an army of PuPu's.  Need I say more?

I was wondering: does anyone know if the DLC weapons scale with the character?

No, but there are several upgrades to the weapons that get unlocked in Chocolina's shop as you progress through the game, just like regular weapons.  For example, the Seraphic Wing starts off crap, but once you download it, depending on how far in the game you are, the Seraphic Wing: Sigma will eventually be unlocked.  And then the Seraphic Wing: Omega, and then finally the Seraphic Wing: Infinity.  All the other DLC weapons follow this pattern as well.

None of them are worth it, though, IMO.  The Chaos Crystal weapon will far outclass any of them still, and at the moment my best non-Chaos Crystal weapon still is better than the best DLC weapon.  They aren't bad weapons, just not the best.  They have good abilities, though.

I swear you work for SE, cuz that sold me pretty well on the DLC. XD  I was kinda hesitant, but now a lot less so.

So I beat the game.  *obligatory WTF at the ending*

That aside, I am very annoyed at the uselessness of the non-DLC Coliseum.  I must have stopped back at that thing a hundred times throughout the game waiting for something to be added there for me to fight, but it never happened.  Just the Arbiter taunting me with "when the time is right, muwahahah." Towards the end it seemed like Snow would at least be added there, but nooooo....game beaten, and after a double-check from gameFAQ's, there is unbelievably no point whatsoever to the regular Coliseum in FFXIII-2.  I swear, for everything they do right....
