I did like the torch lighting ceremony. Felt like a cool original idea instead of someone running up to the torch and lighting it as they usually do.

I need to find a stream next time around; Matt Lauer and Meredith Viera pissed me off so much it affected my enjoyment of the OC.

Awesome: Industrial Revolution, Cauldron Lighting

Good: Arctic Monkeys, Agrarian England, Parade of Nations (would've been awesome if not for the eight billion commercial breaks NBC ran)

Bad: Paul McCartney, Internet/Cell Phone Romance Thing

What is this I don't even: NHS

Considering I haven't been, and won't be, singing near constantly for the majority of my life, my voice will probably hold up a lot better than his by the time I'm 70.

Of course, I've never liked McCartney, I think he's one of the most overrated singers in the world. But he was especially rough last night. Sorry.

I'd much rather listen to Paul sing at 70 than most acts these days sing at 25.

I need to see if there's an internet video of the Parade of Nations. One of my classmates from HS is representing Dominica and I want to see if I can catch him.

I was expecting more history (not just from when it started, the UK has a long, long history) and much more literature and less kiddies dancing around and romancing each other or whatever they were doing.
I must say though, I don't think I have ever watched anything with Mr Bean or even know much about the guy, but the idea of him being stuck at playing that particular keyboard sound for Chariots of Fire made me laugh.

Oh, and Zubis, that was great!.

One of Australia's swimmers, who just qualified for 100m breastroke and is the defending champion got called "fat" a week before the olympics started. She's also one of the first women to go to four olympics in a row.

It just makes me so angry that it even came up when it's clear she's fighting fit, and a hell of a lot fitter than people thinner than her. And nobody has pointed out how ridiculously sexist it is?

Haven't seen the opening ceremony. Yet.
