I know how they work

I rolled my eyes at that part.  It just seemed so over the top.  I can just imagine Fraction going, "This is going to be sooo awesome!  Cap's going to pick up Thor's hammer!  Yeah!  And lightning will shoot out!!  And he'll yell the Avengers Assemble line!!!!!  Fuck yeah this is going to RULE!!!!"

Which is pretty much how I envision the entire writing and plotting of Fear Itself was handled.

"The Serpent is one bad mother fucker!  He's so powerful, even his bitches are more powerful than everyone else!  The Serpent's fucking shit up left and right, no one can stop him!  The Worthy are kicking everyone's asses!  SPLAT, Bucky is dead!  BOOM, down goes Avengers Tower, no one can stop the Worthy!  Watch out, Dark Asgard is on the move!  Uh oh, Tony Stark's made some new weapons!  BAM, down goes the Worthy!  POW, Thor kills the Serpent!  OUCH, Thor drops dead, too!  The End!  Fuck!"

Thor is dead!

You know, Pheonix is coming back.  And Thor JUST came back.  I don't mind characters dying and returning but really, they should stop "killing" off the ones that can come back so easily, or at least stop acting like it's a bad idea.

"Geez Steve, Thor's dead, why are you so peppy?"
"'Cause we won, son, and it'll be a year at the outside before Thor gets back.  Chill, have a brew with me, we've got to go decorate for the WELCOME BACK JEAN party."

Now they just need to bring Bucky back and make him Captain America again.

Figures I gotta love the one that actually has a chance of staying dead.

Went back and started reading Paul Dini's Batman comics from the last few years.

I already miss his version of Riddler.   And his version of everybody else, really.  But mostly Riddler.

Now that he's done with Arkham City, I hope in vain that he'll replace one of the writers on a Batman monthly (except Snyder.  Snyder must stay).

So a friend of mine decided to read Catwoman after loving the character in Arkham City. Unfortunately, she started with the new Catwoman 1 and 2 - she has now decided never to read a DC comic again.

Assure her that it's just Judd Winick, it's not DC in general.

Get her this: http://www.amazon.com/Catwoman-Vol-1-Darwyn-Cooke/dp/1401233848/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1319588677&sr=1-2

Great writing and amazing art with Catwoman being awesome.

"Of Christ's twelve Apostles Judas alone proved to be traitor. But if he had acquired power, he would have represented the other eleven Apostles as traitors, and also all the lesser Apostles whom Luke numbers as seventy." - Leon Trotsky

I have a blog. This is its URL. You should read it. It's about education and skepticism and books and it has a lot of pictures of Batman and Robin in it: https://baldermoon.wordpress.com/

Yeah, just stick to Ed Brubaker's Catwoman, which is getting rereleased in trades in 2012.

Judd Winick is a horrible writer usually.  He can fluke out something good every now and then but a good 80-90% of what he writes is total shit and Catwoman is some of his worst material so far.

I still have no idea how Generation Lost was as consistently good as it was.

I still haven't read that.  I'd been meaning to since the last issue came out but never got around to it.

I figure it was good the same way Under the Red Hood and Exiles were good.  Flukes.

You have got to read Generation Lost. The new Rocket Red is one of the best new characters around. He's an absolute delight to read.

And as good as Under the Red Hood was, the movie was so much better. Why they didn't change Jason Todd's resurrection to the movie version after the reboot is totally beyond me. They had a chance to fix one of the worst resurrection stories ever made, and they blew it!

I meant the movie.  Judd Winick wrote that, too.  I never read the comic, but the movie may just be my favorite Batman movie.  I'm surprised he was able to write something that good.

No kidding.

Still doesn't stand up to Mask of the Phantasm or Sub-Zero, but it's damn good, especially considering who wrote it.

The comic is still pretty good, but it has that whole 'Superboy-Prime' millstone around its neck.

Man, Fables is a lot of fun.  I look forward to getting deeper into this series.

And the art, at least in LEGENDS IN EXILE, is great great great.

Fables only gets better.  And aside from a guest artist here and there, Buckingham draws the whole thing.
