Damn,  a friend spoiled me Sword Art Online...   -_-
I finally convinced my anisong band to cover it´s opening theme, Crossing Fields :-)

That said, Im tired of some types of plots...I tell you, I skip a review immediately if I read "high school" and  "powers" on the same quote... It doesn´t have to be necessarily  philosophical /deep/mature though...any suggestions?

I would suggest Steins;Gate.  I find it good and (almost) none of the characters are in high school.

Though at some point you'll probably think "what does the unvierse have against this guy?"

Sword Art Online is pretty much .hack except with better writing, potting, and less OMG STUPID/wanting to be a gainax show way too hard. It still has some groan inducing moments, but I've definitely liked what I've watched of it so far, and I'm really intrigued to see where it goes. I'm thinking about downloading Accel World, since it's by the same person and has similar themes, but I've heard that it's  a lot of flash and no substance - amazing fight scnes and decent plot, but one of the whinest main characters in years D:

Accel world is a lot easier to read than it is to watch.  It's basically using the same technology in the current (light novel) arc of SAO just a few generations later.  As it's basically a VRMMO fighting game, yeah pretty much flash over substance in the anime.

I'm kind of looking forward to the new arc of sword art online.  I didn't like it much in the lightnovel, but the anime's pacing is much better, and I imagine they won't have time for some of the less desirable elements of the story.

I've been watching Sword Art Online.  I've actually read some complaints about Kirito being too much of a Mary Sue.

While mostly true, he seems to disregard his own safety to do some pretty stupid things at time, so I'm not entirely certain he'd count as one.

I've also been watching a show called C - Control.  It's like Pokemon... battling in the stock market.  It's better than it sounds and is insanely pretty, but I wouldn't expect any less from Tatsunoko Productions.

Per a recommendation, I've been watching a series called Campione.  It's a harem series, supposedly, but it's an action harem series where the main male lead actually does things.

Yes, I'm as shocked as you are.

I know it's not strictly anime but...I just watched the live-action version of Rurouni Kenshin and, some semi-major changes aside, it was a pretty great adaptation of the anime and manga. :D

I've been watching a combination of Black Lagoon and Persona 4: The Animation. I've got quite a backlog of anime to watch; a friend of mine downloads 'em like a maniac and just wants somebody to chat about it all with, so I've gotta try and catch up. It's a good way to experience things you wouldn't usually go for!

What a Tedious fight!

Kirito does a lot of aweosme things in SAO that don't really translate well in anime. I don't really consider him a Mary Sue/Gary Stu despite all the ladies that sourround him (not all of them fall in love with him, either.).  I really liked SAO, and I've liked it more now that I've gotten into the light novels.

I also watched all of Chunibyo Demo Koi ga Shitai! (or Chu2 as it's called). I loooooved it. So many emotions at the end.  Also based off a light novel.

Watched seven out of eight of the Black Rock Shooter (2012) anime. Pretty animation and the story is neat enough. Waiting till I can see my boyfriend again to watch the last episode, since we watched it together.

So I've been watching this little series called Penguindrum, which is a series that's filled to the brim with crazy insanity.

And it comes to make sense because it's created by the same guy who did Revolutionary Girl Utena.

Oh god, does that mean there's symbolism everywhere!?

I disliked Penguindrum. I kept watching and watching, thinking it would finally click, and it never did. It's not a patch on Utena, that's for sure. The survival strategy was intriguing and all, but I had to give up on it eventually.

But, lets see... What's good at the moment?

Psycho-Pass is probably the best thing airing; it's nice to see a decent cyberpunk anime again.

Initial D: 5th Stage is finally here. I guess this is a "love it or hate it" series but I'm firmly in the former camp.

Chihayafuru is something I'm watching into its current second series. I wish it gave a bit more time to its characters rather than focusing on karuta matches most of the time, but it's still interesting and Ayase is very endearing.

There are other series from this season that I've got sitting on the hard drive but I'll get to them later.

Chūnibyō was good. Contrary to most I actually preferred the series when it became a bit more serious and I also liked the ending.

Hyouka, another KyoAni series (like Chūnibyō) that was good. Okay, the mysteries were sort of lame, and that cultural festival arc dragged on, but there was something really nice about the characters and the atmosphere of the show. The scenery porn and high production values certainly helped though.

I've gone back to Higurashi no naku koro ni again, like I do pretty much every year. It's still not gotten old for me, and it's so bloody. For those who don't know, it's like a horror mystery anime where there's a different killer every few episodes. The setting is a rural, tiny village where there's a pretty big emphasis on everyone and everything being innocent...at first.

I'm gonna be watching Higurashi Kai next, which is the 2nd series. It's a bit less bloody, but the story is much more involved and you get to see why all the killings are happening etc. Love that one too.

Then there's Umineko no naku koro ni, which I love too (even though a lot of people seem to hate it). It's from the same makers as Higurashi and is a sort of half-sequel (where some of the characters are back but a bit different). It's based on an island and a mansion that's on it. Death everywhere once again. I'd like to buy the DVD for this one (like I have with those other 2), but it's either incredibly expensive or not in stock on the more reliable sites.

Anyways, I'd recommend these 3 to anyone who likes this kinda dark anime full of mystery and death.

P.S. I just realised how emo this post sounded. How depressing :p

My most recent 3 let's plays:

Zelda: Oracle of Seasons - Link (Din, Onox, Maku...I'm so funny)
Killer7 (Completed) - Link
Luigi's Mansion (Completed!) - Link

So I got sent this youtube link for a one shot episode that was done by a bunch of young animators for a cultural thing in Japan called LIttle Witch Academia.  It's about twenty six minutes long and seems like your typical high school drama, but with magic!

Oh, and the animation is absolutely gorgeous.
