CactuarEnemy Card
Strategy
Cactuar's 1,000 Needles deals exactly 1,000 damage and is often lethal when this enemy first becomes available. Keep everyone above that threshold and avoid wasting turns while it is exposed, because Hide can remove the target and its counter behavior punishes careless attacks. Fire is the elemental weakness, and several disabling statuses work if you can land them. If Quina needs 1,000 Needles, this is the source: lower Cactuar below 25% HP and Eat it, but do not leave Quina or another key character inside the fixed-damage kill range while setting that up.

Strategy
Trouble Juice is the Carrion Worm's real nuisance. Carry Annoyntments and remove Trouble before group damage starts spreading through the affected character. Water and Ice are both weaknesses, and Bug Killer helps if the area has several insect formations. If Quina needs Auto-Life, this is one of the available Eat sources; isolate the Worm first, then lower it below 25% rather than trying to manage Trouble and the Eat threshold simultaneously.

Strategy
Carve Spider's Web can slow the pace of the battle by interfering with a character's turns, while Fire is the attack to watch if the party is wearing Fire-weak gear. The Spider is vulnerable to many common status effects, so Sleep or Stop can remove it while you deal with more dangerous members of a mixed formation. Bug Killer is useful, but there is no special reward for letting this low-HP enemy stay active.

Strategy
Catoblepas has two reasons to prepare before letting it take repeated turns: Earthquake hits the whole party, and Devil's Bell can create status trouble. Float removes Earthquake entirely, leaving its single-target attacks as the main concern. If Quina still needs Limit Glove, Catoblepas is an Eat source; establish Float and clear the other enemies before lowering it under 25%. With no elemental weakness, the defensive setup is more important than element selection.

Strategy
Sleeping Juice is the only part of Cave Imp that tends to derail a clean encounter. Insomniac turns that move into a wasted turn; without it, wake the healer or fastest character first. Fire is the weakness, and the Imp's low durability means there is no advantage in letting it cycle Blizzard and Sleep repeatedly. If it appears with a more dangerous target, a quick Fire spell can remove the Imp without diverting much attention.

Strategy
Cerberus has no elaborate script, but Firaga and Flame can produce large Fire spikes if equipment is poorly matched. Fire resistance or absorption is therefore more valuable than trying to cover every possible status. As a Beast, it is a good Beast Killer target. Quina can learn Auto-Life by Eating Cerberus below 25% HP, so if that Blue Magic is still missing, keep one Cerberus for last and set the threshold only after the rest of the formation is gone.

Strategy
Chimera is one of the regular enemies worth preparing status protection for. Body Temp blocks Cold Breath's Freeze, Antibody protects against Venom, and Virus Crunch should be answered with a Vaccine before the battle ends so the infected character does not lose rewards. Ice is its weakness, while Firaga and Lightning make the fight dangerous if allowed to run. Bad Breath is an effective control option if Quina already has it, but the priority is preventing Freeze/Venom from chaining into a wipe.

Strategy
Clipper is weak to Thunder and uses Water-based offense, so both sides of the elemental matchup are easy to prepare for. Water resistance cuts Aqua Breath/Water pressure, while Thunder can remove the enemy before Bubbles and Crush accumulate. Quina can learn Aqua Breath from this enemy as well; isolate it and Eat below 25% if needed. Because Aqua Breath is percentage-based, do not assume high HP alone makes repeated casts harmless.

Strategy
The Core is the real weak point of the Sand Golem encounter. The surrounding golem body can absorb time and attention, but the battle is won by exploiting the Core when it is exposed. Ice is effective, and there is no reason to spend MP on the outer shell once you understand the target cycle. Use the closed/covered turns for healing or setup, then direct the meaningful damage into the Core as soon as it becomes available.

Strategy
Crawler's Drain can undo small amounts of progress while Stomach and Claws keep steady pressure on one target. Ice is the weakness, and Bug Killer is useful if the region is producing multiple Crawlers. The better shortcut in mixed formations is status control: Sleep, Stop, or Petrify can take a Crawler out of circulation while you remove enemies with more dangerous spell or status kits.

Strategy
Dendrobium is a low-HP aerial plant whose Pollen is more disruptive than its Wind damage. If Pollen is putting characters to Sleep, Insomniac removes the problem and lets you ignore that part of its script. Fire and Wind are both weaknesses, and Bird Killer applies to the Aerial type. In groups, an area Fire spell often clears the Dendrobia before their status turns become relevant.

Dracozombie is Undead, so the item shortcut is dramatically stronger than fighting through its HP: a Magic Tag kills it instantly, while a Phoenix Down drops it to only a few HP. If you fight normally, Fire, Ice, and Holy all work, but Zombie Breath and LV5 Death make a long battle needlessly risky. Check party levels for multiples of 5 and cure Zombie with Magic Tags before attempting normal healing. This is also a useful place to remember that ordinary restorative magic damages Undead targets instead of healing them.

Dragonfly is vulnerable to both Ice and Wind, so it rarely warrants a long setup. The main concern is giving a formation of several Dragonflies enough turns to stack Charge and Buzz damage. Bird Killer and Bug Killer both apply to its dual type, but those Killer effects do not stack with each other, so equip whichever is already convenient rather than spending stones on both.

Drakan's status package is the real threat: Mustard Bomb inflicts Heat, Freeze can set up an instant KO on the next damaging hit, and Mind Blast adds further disruption. Body Temp shuts down both Heat and Freeze at once, making it the best single preparation. If Reflect or Vanish goes up, Dispel removes the wasted-turn problem rather than forcing attacks through the buffs. Wind is the elemental weakness, and Antibody is useful against Bio's Poison.

Strategy
Epitaph has one of the cleanest enemy exploits in the game: use a Soft on it and the Stone-type monster is instantly KO'd. That is the safest answer if you simply want through Oeilvert. If you want EXP instead, allow it to create Mirror copies and defeat the copies first; each doppelganger adds substantial experience, but a copy corresponding to a character in the active party can use its special attack for 9,999 damage against the original. Jelly protects against Epitaph's Petrify. For low-level play, Petrifying the Epitaph itself yields AP without EXP, while the Soft kill follows normal KO rules.

Strategy
Do not allow the copy a free turn if Amarant is in the active party; its character-specific move deals 9,999 directly to him. Holy is the clean elemental answer; unlike the tombstone that summoned it, this human-shaped copy is not vulnerable to an instant Soft KO. If Amarant is not present, the special targeting condition is gone and the copy can be handled after whichever doppelganger threatens an active character.

Strategy

Soft only works on the Stone-type Epitaph, not on Dagger's human-form mirror. If Dagger is not present, the special targeting condition is gone and the copy can be handled after whichever doppelganger threatens an active character.

Epitaph, Eiko

Strategy
With Eiko in the party, this doppelganger is a healer-killer: its special move deals 9,999 to the real Eiko. Holy damage is particularly effective against the copy. Do not waste a Soft on it, the item exploit belongs to the Epitaph itself. If Eiko is not present, the special targeting condition is gone and the copy can be handled after whichever doppelganger threatens an active character.

Strategy
The clone's special attack is keyed to Freya and deals 9,999 if she is present, so remove it before she can be picked off. The mirror is weak to Holy, while the parent Epitaph's Soft shortcut does not carry over to Freya's duplicate. If Freya is not present, the special targeting condition is gone and the copy can be handled after whichever doppelganger threatens an active character.

Strategy
If Quina is active, the mirror's unique move deals 9,999 to the real Quina and can erase your utility character immediately. Holy gives you the strongest listed elemental advantage. The clone is treated as Human, so Soft cannot delete it the way it deletes an Epitaph. If Quina is not present, the special targeting condition is gone and the copy can be handled after whichever doppelganger threatens an active character.

Strategy
This copy can deal 9,999 directly to Steiner, making it a priority whenever he is part of the Oeilvert group. Holy is the useful weakness here. Although the copy came from a Stone enemy, it is a Human record and does not inherit the Soft instant-KO exploit. If Steiner is not present, the special targeting condition is gone and the copy can be handled after whichever doppelganger threatens an active character.

Strategy
Vivi is the designated victim of this clone's 9,999-damage move, so do not leave the copy alive while preparing other actions. Lean on Holy to shorten the mirror fight. Save Soft for the Epitaph; Vivi's copy is not a Stone target. If Vivi is not present, the special targeting condition is gone and the copy can be handled after whichever doppelganger threatens an active character.

Strategy
Because Zidane is mandatory in Oeilvert, this is one of the most consistently dangerous mirrors: its special move can deal 9,999 directly to him. Holy is the elemental weakness, and the duplicate must be defeated normally, Soft only works on the Epitaph that generated it. Zidane is mandatory in Oeilvert, so this particular clone nearly always retains its 9,999-damage threat and should not be left for later.

Strategy
Fang is an early Beast with little in the way of special mechanics, but it can still punish a party that enters Evil Forest already worn down. Fire is its weakness, and Beast Killer works if learned later. Because the enemy is broadly vulnerable to status effects, Sleep or Stop can remove one from a multi-enemy formation while you deal with Dendrobium or Plant Spider first. There is no benefit to dragging the fight out once the immediate area is safe.

Strategy
This Festival of the Hunt Fang is primarily a scoring target. Fire remains its weakness, so use the fastest reliable Fire damage available and avoid spending festival time on setup that does not improve the score. The encounter awards festival points rather than normal battle rewards, so the tactical question is route efficiency: remove it quickly and move to the next target. If you are manipulating who wins the Festival, factor the Fang's points into the result you want rather than automatically taking every kill.

Trouble Tail is the move to plan around. Trouble causes damage taken by one character to splash onto the rest of the party, so an Annoyntment is often worth using immediately instead of healing through the secondary damage. Thunder and Wind are both weaknesses, and the Aerial typing makes Bird Killer useful. LV4 Holy only affects levels divisible by 4; if your party happens to align badly, change a level before farming these or equip Holy protection.

Strategy
Flan is a simple enemy but has the usual advantage of a magic-oriented blob: its defenses can make weak chip damage inefficient. Fire is the clear weakness and removes it quickly, especially in groups. If Head Attack is the only remaining threat, disabling the Flan with Sleep or Stop gives you time to handle more dangerous targets. There is little reason to conserve Fire MP against them if the alternative is allowing several Blizzard casts.
