Friendly Monsters

Feather Circle (Friendly Monster)

The same floating stingray-and-sea-angel shape as the hostile creature, but the jaunty music and refusal to attack completely change the mood.

Strategy
Use 1 Moonstone on the friendly Feather Circle to receive 30 AP and a Lapis Lazuli. The Lapis Lazuli is then used for the friendly Garuda, so this exchange directly advances the item chain. Do not attack and do not try to Eat it for LV4 Holy; the hostile Feather Circle is the correct Blue Magic target. If you are short on Moonstones, make sure you are not spending the sidequest copy elsewhere before completing this encounter.

Garuda (Friendly Monster)

The same large winged creature seen in hostile encounters, but calm and non-aggressive here. It waits for the requested item instead of attacking the party.

Strategy
Give the friendly Garuda 1 Lapis Lazuli to receive 40 AP and a Diamond. Keep that Diamond: it is the item required by the final friendly Yan. The friendly version never needs to be fought, so there is no reason to prepare for the hostile Garuda's Maelstrom or Stop. Once this exchange is complete, confirm that the previous friendly creatures are also finished before hunting Yan on Vile Island.

Ghost (Friendly Monster)

A ragged spirit that drifts in without hostility during the Friendly Monsters sidequest. The special encounter replaces its usual menace with a quiet request for an item.

The friendly Ghost also wants 1 Ore. Give it the item instead of attacking to receive 10 AP and a Hi-Potion. This encounter is separate from the hostile Ghost record, so the Undead item tricks used in normal battles are the wrong approach here. If you are following the intended chain, this is the second friendly creature after Mu and helps build the sequence of rewards needed for the later jewel requests.

Jabberwock (Friendly Monster)

The odd, long-faced Jabberwock appears with the friendly-monster theme instead of its usual aggression, immediately changing how the strange silhouette reads. What normally looks like an awkward predator becomes almost endearing when it simply waits for the requested offering.

Strategy
Give the friendly Jabberwock 1 Emerald to receive 40 AP and a Moonstone. That Moonstone is the key reward because the friendly Feather Circle asks for it next. Do not confuse this with the hostile Jabberwock, which uses Earthquake and can teach Limit Glove. The friendly encounter should end immediately through the item command; there is no advantage in testing attacks or status effects.

Ladybug (Friendly Monster)

A giant ladybird whose glossy rounded shell already looks more cute than threatening, made even friendlier by the special music and non-hostile behavior.

Strategy
Use 2 Ore on the friendly Ladybug and do not damage it. The reward is 20 AP plus an Ether and Echo Screen. Because the hostile Ladybug looks nearly identical, use the special friendly battle music as the cue before selecting the item command. Completing it early is convenient because the Friendly Monsters rewards begin shifting from common Ore requests toward the jewels required by the later creatures.

Mu (Friendly Monster)

The round, harmless-looking woodland creature becomes even more charming under the friendly-monster music, standing patiently instead of attacking. Its soft silhouette makes this one of the easiest special encounters to accept as genuinely friendly rather than merely strange.

Strategy
Leave the friendly Mu completely alone and use 1 Ore on it. The exchange awards 10 AP plus Eye Drops and a Potion, and it is the natural starting point for the Friendly Monsters chain because Ore is easy to obtain. Attacking it converts a harmless sidequest encounter into a failure, so confirm the special battle music before choosing a command. The reward sequence points toward the later friendly creatures, but you can complete most of them out of order if you already possess their requested items.

Nymph (Friendly Monster)

A tiny fairy-like creature that hovers quietly during its Friendly Monsters encounter. It asks for an item rather than attacking, presenting itself more as a woodland spirit.

The friendly Nymph asks for 3 Ore. Hand them over for 30 AP and an Emerald, which is particularly useful because the Emerald is the item requested by the next friendly Jabberwock. Do not attack or try to Eat this version, the hostile Nymph is the one used to learn Night. This encounter is best treated as a link in the sidequest's item chain rather than as a battle.

Yan (Friendly Monster)

The woolly, sheep-like oddity appears with the friendly-monster music and none of the ordinary Yan's infamous aggression. The same round body and strange face suddenly read as harmless.

Yan must be the final Friendly Monsters encounter. If any of the other eight creatures are incomplete, it asks whether you found the others and runs away, even if you already have a Diamond. After completing the chain, use 1 Diamond on Yan to receive 50 AP and a Rosetta Ring. Finishing this exchange also changes the Ozma battle: close-range attacks can reach Ozma and its Shadow relationship changes, enabling Doomsday to hurt the superboss instead of simply healing it.

Yeti (Friendly Monster)

The shaggy snow creature appears under the friendly-monster theme. The encounter turns a classic yeti shape into a quiet little exchange instead of a brawl.

Strategy
Give the friendly Yeti 2 Ore to receive 20 AP and an Elixir. No combat setup is needed; attacking only ruins the exchange. Yeti is normally encountered after Ladybug in the sidequest's natural progression. If you are collecting AP for abilities, consider equipping Ability Up before handing over the item so the large AP reward is more useful to the characters who still need mastery.
