Location
Mako Reactor 5
Mako Reactor 5Second Shinra reactor targeted by AVALANCHE.
Attacks
Big Bomber
Big BomberInflicts physical damage on one opponent.
, Rear Gun

Defenses
Immune to Earth and Gravity
Weaknesses
Lightning
Steal Item
-
Morph Item
-
Dropped Item
Titan Bangle
Titan BangleEarly armlet with two unlinked slots.
Strategy
Air Buster starts as a pincer fight, which means facing and turn timing matter as much as raw damage. Lightning is its weakness, and back attacks can hit hard when the boss turns away from a character. Save healing for after Big Bomber or Energy Ball, then punish with Bolt and Limits. Do not waste Earth or Gravity effects; the clean win is controlled aggression from both sides.

Aps

Level HP MP EXP AP Gil

Location
Sewer
SewerUnderground route beneath Wall Market after Corneo's trap.
Attacks

Dropped Item
Phoenix Down
Phoenix DownRevives a KO'd character with partial HP.
Strategy
Aps is messy because Sewer Tsunami can damage both the party and the boss depending on direction. Keep everyone out of critical HP, then let the fight work in your favor when the wave hits Aps too. Poison and steady physical attacks are enough if you heal after Tail Attack and Lick. This battle is less about elemental precision and more about not panicking when the arena itself starts dealing damage.

Dark Nation

Guard Source
Guard SourcePermanently raises Vitality by 1.
Strategy
Dark Nation should fall before Rufus gets your full attention. Its MBarrier can make the rooftop duel take longer than necessary, and removing the support hound also simplifies healing. Use quick physical attacks or magic to kill it immediately, then shift to Rufus. Do not spend this phase on elaborate setup; the fight is won by stripping away the support target first.

Guard Scorpion

Level HP MP EXP AP Gil

Location
Mako Reactor 1
Mako Reactor 1Opening bombing mission where Cloud joins AVALANCHE to destroy Shinra's No. 1 Reactor.

Defenses
Immune to Gravity
Weaknesses
Lightning
Steal Item

Morph Item
-
Dropped Item
Assault Gun
Assault GunA compact firearm arm built for sustained fire.
Strategy
Guard Scorpion teaches the first real boss rule in FFVII: pay attention to its posture. Lightning is the correct damage type, but stop attacking while the tail is raised or Tail Laser will punish the party. Use the downtime to heal or defend, then resume Bolt and physical attacks when the tail drops. Keep Barret and Cloud healthy enough to survive a bad counter rather than racing blindly.

Heli Gunner

Level HP MP EXP AP Gil
19 1,000 0 250 25 200
Location
Shinra Building

Defenses
Immune to Earth
Weaknesses
Lightning and Wind
Steal Item
-
Morph Item
-
Dropped Item
Mythril Armlet
Mythril ArmletEarly linked-slot armlet.
Strategy
Heli Gunner follows immediately after Hundred Gunner, so enter the fight with healing already under control. Lightning and Wind are the best elements, while Earth fails because the boss is airborne. Firing Line and the cannon attacks can spread damage quickly, making Aeris's healing role important. Do not conserve MP too hard here; ending the second machine quickly is safer than limping through two back-to-back bosses.

Hundred Gunner

Level HP MP EXP AP Gil
18 1,600 330 330 35 0
Location
Shinra Building
Shinra BuildingShinra headquarters, central to the Midgar escape sequence.
Attacks

, Hidden Artillery

, Main Artillery
Main ArtilleryInflicts physical damage on all opponents.
, Sub Artillery

, Wave Artillery
Wave ArtilleryInflicts physical damage on all opponents.
Defenses
Immune to Water
Weaknesses
Earth
Steal Item
-
Morph Item
-
Dropped Item
-
Strategy
Hundred Gunner is a range check for the Shinra Tower party. Cloud is absent, so Barret's long-range attacks and the others' magic carry the fight. Earth is the listed weakness, while Water does nothing, but steady Bolt/Limit pressure is also practical if your Materia setup is thin. Heal before the artillery sequence compounds, because the transition into Heli Gunner leaves little room for sloppy recovery.

Motor Ball

Location

Defenses
Immune to Gravity
Weaknesses
Lightning
Steal Item
-
Morph Item
-
Dropped Item
Star Pendant
Star PendantPrevents Poison.
Strategy
Motor Ball is dangerous because the party begins in a back attack after the motorcycle escape. Heal immediately if the chase left anyone low, then exploit Lightning while keeping HP above Twin Burner range. Rolling Fire and Deadly Wheel can punish a party that tries to burst without recovery. Once the opening is stabilized, Limits and Bolt damage end the fight cleanly.

Rufus

Level HP MP EXP AP Gil
21 500 0 240 35 400
Location
Shinra Building
Shinra BuildingShinra headquarters, central to the Midgar escape sequence.
Attacks
Shotgun
ShotgunInflicts physical damage on one opponent.
Defenses
-
Weaknesses
-
Steal Item
-
Morph Item
-
Dropped Item
Protect Vest
Protect VestRaises Vitality by 10.
Strategy
Rufus is a cleaner fight once Dark Nation is gone. He relies on Shotgun and durability rather than a complex phase script, so keep Cloud healed and use steady offense. If Dark Nation managed to apply MBarrier, simply outlast it rather than wasting the fight trying to be clever. This duel rewards preparation before the rooftop more than any special trick during the battle itself.

Sample H0512

Level HP MP EXP AP Gil
19 1,000 120 300 16 250
Location
Shinra Building
Shinra BuildingShinra headquarters, central to the Midgar escape sequence.
Attacks
Keyclaw
KeyclawInflicts physical damage on one opponent.
, Reanimagic
ReanimagicRevives all KO'd allies with full HP.
, Shady Breath
Shady BreathMay inflict Poison on all opponents.
Defenses
-
Weaknesses
-
Steal Item
-
Morph Item
-
Dropped Item
Talisman
TalismanRaises Spirit by 10.
Strategy
Sample H0512 is at its worst when Reanimagic keeps the support targets relevant. Do not let the adds distract you forever; clear them only when they interfere, then focus the specimen itself. Shady Breath and Keyclaw are manageable if Aeris or another healer stays ahead of the damage. The Talisman Morph is nice, but only attempt it after the adds are controlled and the party is no longer being pressured.

Sample H0512-Opt

Level HP MP EXP AP Gil
7 300 48 20 2 0
Location
Shinra Building
Shinra BuildingShinra headquarters, central to the Midgar escape sequence.
Attacks
Ice
IceDeals low Ice-elemental magic damage to one target.
, Rolling Attack
Rolling AttackInflicts physical damage on one opponent.
, Fire
FireDeals low Fire-elemental magic damage to one target.
Defenses
-
Weaknesses
-
Steal Item
-
Morph Item
-
Dropped Item
Grenade
GrenadeDeals 160 non-elemental damage.
Strategy
The Opts are support pieces, not the real objective. They can irritate the party with Ice and Rolling Attack, but overcommitting to them gives Sample H0512 more time to apply pressure. Clear one if it is interfering with healing, then return damage to the main body. Treat them as disposable adds and avoid spending valuable items unless the formation has already gone sideways.
