Strategy
Fastitocalon is the stronger form of the beach-dwelling enemy and shares the same sand-based defensive behavior. While buried it can soak up far more punishment than expected, so force it to surface and then exploit Thunder rather than wasting a long string of weak hits. Water is ineffective, and higher-level versions can use Sandstorm to damage the party, making prolonged fights less attractive. Its Fish Fins and Water-related resources can be useful for refinement, but farm them with Mug or Card rather than deliberately giving the monster extra turns.

Fastitocalon (Small)

A sand-dwelling monster whose fin appears above the beach sand before it attacks.

Strategy
Fastitocalon (Small) spends much of the battle buried in the sand, where its defenses are far better than its small size suggests. Keep attacking until it surfaces, then use Thunder to exploit the opening and finish it before it settles back into a more defensive state. Water is ineffective, so do not waste Water-junctioned attacks on it. These enemies are also unusually good early AP for how easy they are to defeat, making the Balamb beaches useful when you want GF abilities without taking on much risk.

Forbidden

Strategy
Forbidden is undead and becomes especially dangerous when left at very low HP, where Iai Strike can inflict instant KO. Fire and Holy are effective, but curative magic and recovery items are the cleaner shortcut because undead targets take damage from healing effects. Poison is useless, so status offense should focus elsewhere. If you are fighting several, do not leave multiple Forbiddens lingering near death; finish one completely before moving to the next. That prevents a seemingly won battle from turning into repeated revivals because of late Iai Strikes.

Funguar

A fungus monster. Uses spores and status attacks such as sleep.

Strategy
Funguar is more of a status nuisance than a damage threat. It regularly uses Sleep and gains access to additional status magic at higher levels, so Sleep protection keeps groups from wasting turns while the remaining mushrooms attack. Fire is a convenient way to clear them quickly, but they are weak enough that ordinary attacks work as well. Their Sleep Powder is useful for status magic and junction preparation early in the game, so Mugging can be worthwhile if you are building a stock. Otherwise, remove them before their spells turn a simple encounter into a slow one.

G-Soldier

A regular Galbadian soldier. Uses standard military weapons and basic attacks.

Strategy
G-Soldiers are conventional human opponents with no special defensive gimmick, so the safest strategy is simply to reduce their numbers quickly. Their basic physical attacks are modest, but several soldiers acting together can chip down an under-junctioned party while you spend turns Drawing. Early encounters are useful for stocking basic elemental and recovery magic, so leave one alive only if you specifically need the spells. Otherwise, focus one target at a time and finish the formation rather than spreading damage across multiple soldiers.

Strategy
Gayla is one of the best sources of Meltdown in the game, which makes it strategically important long after it stops being a dangerous enemy. High-level Gaylas can be Drawn for Meltdown, while Mystery Fluid from Mugging, drops, or Card Mod can be refined into the spell. In battle, Hypnotize can inflict Sleep and Gastric Juice removes a large portion of current HP without directly killing, so Sleep protection keeps the farming process safe. Secure the Mystery Fluid or magic first, then use Thunder or ordinary attacks to finish the encounter.

Strategy
Geezard is a low-threat enemy whose real value is material collection. It carries Screws in large quantities, making it one of the easiest early sources for weapon-upgrade components, and its card can serve the same general purpose through refinement. In combat it has no meaningful elemental defense and is vulnerable to a wide range of disabling statuses, so Sleep or KO effects can end the encounter with little effort. If you only need Screws, Mugging is more efficient than extending the battle; otherwise, ordinary attacks will remove it before it can do much.

Strategy
Gesper is dangerous for one reason: Degenerator can eject a character from battle regardless of conventional defenses. That makes it a poor target to leave alive while you slowly Draw, especially in challenge runs where a forced removal matters. Black Holes are its major reward; they teach Quistis Degenerator and can also be refined into Demi, so collecting one early has lasting value. Disable or kill the Gesper quickly after securing the item. If you want its Protect, Shell, or later Float stock, put it under a reliable status first rather than gambling against Degenerator.

Strategy
GIM47N mixes machine durability with an annoying defensive trick: it can cast Reflect on itself, making careless offensive magic bounce away while it continues using Snipe Laser and Chain Gun. Thunder is the clean elemental weakness and Poison is useless. If Reflect goes up, switch to physical attacks or non-reflectable options instead of feeding spells into it. The machine is not especially dangerous when isolated, but Chain Gun can wear down the entire party in groups, so focus one target at a time and reduce the number of active guns quickly.

Strategy
GIM52A is more dangerous than its earlier machine counterpart because Micro Missiles removes half of the target's current HP and Ray-Bomb can pressure the whole party. Micro Missiles cannot finish a character by itself, but it creates exactly the low-HP state that the machine's next attack can exploit. Thunder, Earth, and Water all work well, while Poison does nothing. Heal after percentage damage when necessary and attack decisively; a long defensive fight only gives it more chances to chain Micro Missiles into conventional damage.

Strategy
Glacial Eye is an early flying enemy whose Ice affinity matters more than its attack power. Fire cuts through it quickly, while Ice should be avoided because it is absorbed; Earth attacks also miss airborne targets. Its spell list can be useful very early if you still need basic Cure or Blizzard stock, so it is safe to Draw for a few turns when encountered alone. In groups, finish the Glacial Eyes first if their repeated cold attacks are wearing down a poorly junctioned party.

Strategy
Grand Mantis has unusually high Vitality and can inflict Silence with Bubbles, while Super Arm is an automatic critical hit that makes weak defensive junctions costly. Guard against Silence if you plan to cast, then attack its much softer magical defenses instead of insisting on physical damage. Fire is useful, and Darkness can reduce the accuracy of its ordinary physical attacks even though it does not solve every special. If you need to farm the encounter, keep one dedicated healer or caster protected from Silence so the fight cannot spiral after a bad status application.

Strategy
Grat is a weak Training Center enemy, but Sleep can make an otherwise trivial battle last longer than expected. Fire and Ice both deal increased damage, and Grat itself can be put to Sleep, which is useful if you want time to Draw its status magic safely. Silence Powder and Sleep Powder are useful early status-refinement materials, so Mugging or collecting a few drops can be worthwhile. If you are simply passing through the Training Center, attack immediately; there is no advantage in allowing a group of Grats repeated chances to disable characters.

Strategy
Grendel can become a sturdy mid-game dragon, but it is also a useful source of Dragon Fins, Dragon Fangs, and later Fury Fragments. Ice is a dependable weakness in the areas represented by this table, and Darkness or Sleep can reduce the danger while you Mug or Draw. If you are hunting materials, check the enemy's level because its drops change substantially with level and may be more valuable than the EXP from simply killing it. Once farming is finished, concentrated elemental or physical damage is safer than letting a high-level Grendel keep attacking.

Strategy
Guard's signature nuisance is a party-wide Sleep attack, and that is almost the entire strategy. Junction Sleep resistance before areas where groups appear and the encounter becomes a collection of weak physical attacks; without protection, several Guards can steal turns while sleeping characters are picked apart. Because their offense is otherwise modest, they are safe targets for Drawing or Mugging once Sleep is covered. If you are not collecting anything, use a group attack and move on rather than giving them repeated chances to land the one status that makes them relevant.
