Forgotten Capital / City of the Ancients
Overview
The Forgotten Capital, also called the City of the Ancients, is an abandoned Cetra settlement built around shell-like structures, waterways, and luminous architecture. Its empty houses, underground chambers, and central altar create one of the game's most solemn environments. The party follows Aeris here as she attempts to summon Holy, leading to a major and irreversible story event. The area contains important items, materia, and later information about the White Materia. It is revisited with Bugenhagen during the search for Holy.
